Caterhams At Cadwell

CADWELL PARK 10TH.SEPTEMBER 2005
CATERHAM ACADEMY CHAMPIONSHIP RACE MEETING

I NEED YOUR HELP

I have been asked by MSV at very short notice, to put together a Team of Marshals to cover the above event. If you have volunteered to help me at the MG Car Club meeting on Sunday 11th.September, could you make a weekend of it and help out on the Saturday as well as on Sunday. If you haven't volunteered for this weekend any where else, can you help on either of the days at Cadwell? MSV will put on a BBQ on the Saturday evening, plus arrange for fast circuit rides for Marshals during the day as a way of saying thank you. The MG Car Club will say thank you in the normal way on Sunday.

As yet I do not have a timetable, but I believe it will be a very relaxed day, probably starting with sign-on time around 10.00am. Full details will be forwarded to you with passes, etc.

I need help in all departments, and persuasions, especially track side, (Observer, Flag, Incident, and Course). If you can help, please get in touch with me by any method, phone, fax, e-mail, or pm on this site.

I can assure you that your presence and assistance will make a very valuable contribution to the overall efficiency and success of this race meeting. As you know, we always require more Marshals at Cadwell Park, if you know of anyone who may be able to help out, please let me know so that I can send them details and passes. but in the meantime if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Oh dear, what a pity- housework & ironing postponed again!!! Put me down for it John.
PS Is the offer of Caterham ride a threat or a promise?

Ladies and Gents, please try to help John if you are able, he and the MGCC do a lot to help us so it would be nice if we can repay that support by helping out.

How desperate are you for marshals? Would drivers be of any use - I can put it 'round the Caterham Graduates?

Graeme - As for "how desperate are we", I will not know until next Thursday/Friday.

That said we will be grateful for any help that can be offered. Please pass the word around your organisation.

However, if the drivers you mention are competing in the event, problems will arrive when they need to leave their Marshals post to get ready and take part in their practice/ race, thus leaving gaps out on the 'Bank'.

I am already getting an encouraging response, so I hope we will end up with a safe number of Marshals.

Please check your Diaries again to see if you can help.

Joyce has placed a very good 'post' on another thread, inviting the MG Car Club Competitors who are racing on the Sunday, to join us on the 'Bank' on the Saturday. They could gain a signature on their licence, learn a lot about the different lines through a corner, etc. etc. Any takers ?

I am on the list to marshal on the Sunday - alas can't do saturday (As yet!!)
However, I desparately need accommodation (Family room) that won't break the bank and isn't millions of miles from the circuit.
Anyone know of any good B&B's?

Mark, there are many hotels in the Grimsby / Cleethorpes area just 30minutes or so from Cadwell. A quick Google search did find this Premier Travel Inn link: http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/...?hotelId=23964

See you on the Sunday!

Mark Here's some more possibilities for you. All are often used by visitors to Cadwell Park. The Travellers is a B&B, the other two are Pubs. If you want 'Hotels', which are more expensive than these listed, give me a call.

The Black Horse - Donington on Bain 01507 343640 3 miles from Cadwell
The Travellers B&B - Louth 01507 602765 4 miles from Cadwell
The Windmill Hotel - Alford 01507 463377 7 miles from Cadwell

Expect to see you Sunday, and hopefully, Saturday morning.

Thanks John, much appreciated.
Everything is dependent on work shifts - which I will not know until Thursday but all being well I will get my first visit to Cadwell next weekend.

Not had any luck in my search for digs on the Saturday night from those listed above by JW.
How far is Lincoln from Cadwell (Timewise)?

I'm also thinking of just driving over on the Sunday morning. Looking at M6 - M62 - M18 then M180(?) (From Stoke)
I know how long it takes to get to Junction 27 on the M62, so how much longer from there?

Hi Mark
From junction 27 on the M62 your talking about 2 hours, after the M180 its the A180 into Grimsby and then the A16 to Louth, then round Louth bypass to the A153 Horncastle road.
I would think a much shourter route would be A52 to Nottingham then A46 to Lincoln,A158 to Horcastle A153 towards Louth. 2 - 2 1/2 hours total
Not there sat myself but hopfuly see you sunday
Paul

Paul, many thanks for that!

Don't fancy a 3.5 hr trip twice in one day, so I'll go for the Nottingham route I think (Unless I get digs beforehand!)

I'd recommend the M180. The best route I've found (no Gatso's!) is to go into Brigg & take the A1084 to Caistor. Go through Caistor, take the B1225 as far as the A157. Turn left on the A157 to Burgh on Bain; a couple of miles through Burgh there's a minor road off to the right (I THINK it's signposted Cadwell Park!) ; this will take you to the A153, turn right & it's a quarter of a mile to Cadwell. WARNING: the last few miles do present opportunities to get lost - take this route only if you can cope with rural Lincolnshire's lack of signposting - there's nobody around to ask directions if you get do get lost!)

No it isn't! If we weren't already committed to Croft, we'd be at Cadwell next weekend.
