Whilst not denying that he did at times expose himself to being hit at times, looking at this he was the innocent party in probably half of these. Definantely punted by Crompton in Waneroo in 93, Bowe at Waneroo in 96, Lowndes at Bathurst in 96 and I think at Bathurst in 95 by Phil Ward. The clash at the Chase with the Valvoline car in the wet was with Brad Jones driving.

But when you think about his exploits on 2 wheels, I don't really think any of us are in a position to criticise. V8 supercar legend maybe not (although 2 Bathust podiums and a round win is nothing to snezzed at), but Australian sporting hero, defiantely.

If he'd driven for other people rather than try and make it with his own team (Alan Jones should have done the same when he came back to Australia in 1981/82), he'd likely have done quite well, he certainly didn't do a bad job in 1993.

If his attitude had been different maybe Jones would have done better - but being too hard on a cars transmission and simply getting out of the car, walking away and saying 'fix it' didn't endear Jones to any other teams!

C'mon Ross Stone, David Besnard - step up you guys have fond memories of Wayne at Bathurst practice 2002 - dont you - share with us Please.

Personally - met the guy several times, often not by choice, and frankly didn't really like him.

I've got the 93-96 ATCC crashes DVD and it seems like captain chaos is involved in a significant portion of that highlight(or lowlight) reel.
