Aslak Vind should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

That E36 bmw is interesting, was it a supertourer downgraded? Can anyone shed some light?
This BMW 320i E36 was first raced by Pierre Legarth, since by his brother Mike. The latter later upgraded to an ex-Schnitzer E46.

Actually it was only after the start of the 2003 season, that the DTC series actually raced after the full S2000 regulation. Before that the cars raced in the local Group N+ regulations. Up to 2001 it was a weight/effect relationship of 5,5 kg/1BHP, from 2001 to the end of 2002 it was a restrictorbased regulation.

So honestly, I dont think that it is fair to include the E36 in the S2000 regulation schedule. The car was introduced in the DTC/Pro Am series in 1999.

The E36 was discovered among the '03 pics on the dtc-net.org site though, so if it ran in 2003 doesn't that mean its updated to S2000 rules?

Does anybody have some better pics on it by the way? The only pics I could find are ones where its either behind other cars, in dust or crashed, and I'm curious how it looks in full.

The car raced in the DTC with Legarth until the end of 2003, where Mike Legarth upgraded to the ex-Schnitzer E46. The car was tuned by Bernd Kreutzmüller and the team cooperated with Lorenz Butke as technical advisor.

I would guess that the car was updated from N+ to S2000, to participate in the 2003 series. I have just asked Mike about it, and its heritage.

From the picture, the rear wing looks more ST than S2000. But without better pictures, it's hard to say if it's an upgraded Grp N or a downgraded ST car.

Is the 406 a true S2000? VLR sold one of their BTC chassis to Roger Moen for the Swedish or Danish series. Not sure if its that car, or a new build

Yupp, the variety in the TCC out there makes the uniformity in WTCC a real sad story, especially in the privateer section.

Just had a nice email from the always kind Mike Legarth, he told me that his car was bought from a German team (Sadly he doesnt remember which). And it was in German DTC spec at the time of the purchase, and and later updated to Danish specs.

I don't think homologation was really the issue. That car wasn't built in S2000 rules.

Well... maybe we can include this. It's an updated super production car... Never raced, but made some slow laps in Alastaro qualifying in 2004.

This is a great idea - nice one Bramzel.

Bramzel, if you want I will forward you the code from your first post, you can edit it and return it to me and I will edit your first post as cars are updated. Ideally it'd be nice if you could edit the post yourself, trying to find out if this is possible.

Some more information from the Baltic, Russian, Portuguese and Italian touringcar championships would be welcome. What are the websites from those championships?

www.ptcc.com.pt is the link for the Portuguese championship.

This year it was just a bunch of Seat Leons Supercopas vs three or four S2000s (BMW 320 si, Peugeot 407 and Alfa Romeo 156).

I might have been misled by the DTC pronoun of this overview, hence the discussion abouth the E36.

Why is the DTC called the German Touringcar Championship, and still Danish Touringcar Championship cars like the 307 CC are represented in this overview?

Thats got to cause confusion

It was a mistake I made in the code, I've pm'ed an update to TCLegend. Because I made a mistake in the URL code for the DTC site it's connected to the procar name and dissapeared alltogether

I believe the two Civics in the BTCC in 2004, raced by John George (JAG - LPG powered) and also Richard Marsh (VARTA sponsored) were ex SP cars, certainly they were well off the pace.
Richard Marsh's 2004 car was originally built and run by Synchro in the 2002 BTCC and then Barwell in 2003. It's now owned by Jason Hughes. I think Barwell still have the other car and it's seen use in Britcar.
