Sonata has 2L engine for domestic market(imported to HK too)

Using the new bodystyled Hyundai Lantra or Elantra (NA name) looks like a better fit? It will be around for a lot longer than the Sonata which is already 2 years old in NA.

Hyundai was semi-involved in ST in Australia as they backed a pair of Lantras. Or was it the importer that actually backed the pair Lantras?

But after just 1 year, they pulled out and Paul Pickett carried the ST/Korean flag for many years.

Then the mid 90s BTCC and Korean manufactur rumor which supposedly involved Kia, but Hyundai seemed to be more financially able to take on the challenge?

I hope they do formally adapt a S200 class. It would make so much sense to race the Lantra as it's a brand new model and can be developed over the next several years?
