This is where the the series is wrong, it is production cars after all. You by the car and there is always an achelies heel part on the car, and you should have to live with it, not be able to get a fix for it

Well, thanks to Craig Nayda the series is about to get even more wrong, with being able to change brake calipers, changing engine internals etc etc as per Performance Car regs. Imagine someone turning up with a Proton Satria GTi with 4 spot Ap/Alcon/Brembo calipers on the front, and 2 spots on the rear? Perfectly fine according to the new rules

Don't know if you will see much Dave. If you're out at the Media Centre "Reception" desk - then you'll probably get rotated out to the walkway to police people accessing the Media Centre. But if you're in the centre itself then you'll have a few TVs to watch See you up there.

What is the price ceiling limit on this category, will the new v8 M3 & Audi s5 be to expensive to enter?

I'll be OK with that as just being there and working is what I wanted to do...whats the old saying a foot in the door helps to go places. 2008 is building and the likelyhood of it increasing over the next few years to help it become a annual event looks promising...in saying that so did the last real 12hrs back in the 90's and look what happened to them just when the fields looked exciting...

Alfacors closer to the date we should work out a place to meet.

Better still all that is going we should link up..

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the regs were changed to suit the Commodores as they are too heavy and don't stop after a few heavy braking applications. This is why they were largely absent from the 2007 event.

Yes I think the Commodores will benifit with engine mods as well. Its a shame that they can run but not the M3 as well which really doesnt come up as well with the Performance Car mods anyway.
I hope it doesnt turn into a race where the Holdens have a set of rules to suit them and everyone else has to run more close to standard rules.
It appears that the 335i will have to run production car rules against the Holdens with Performance Car rules even tho they are in the same class.
IF they dont win we migth see a special class next year for 7 litre Monaros.

The old Performance car rules are now the Production Car rules. So the BMWs and Commodore SS etc will now be able to upgrade their brakes as per the others.

There ar still two different sets of rules on the BMF website. The are 3E Production and 3J Performance. That must have changed then.
I think whatever if the same cars run as last year plus more Holdens the result will still be the same.

The site hasn't been updated to reflect the changes it seems. From what I was told a few weeks back, no matter who runs the Production Car category, the rules are as ratified by CAMS - i.e. the Performance Car rules will be in place for 2008.

From what I remember of recent publications the Performance promotor walked out of merger talks yes? Leaving the status quo in place, allowing a bad situation to deteriorate further?

Has the 12 hour race got a web site for the 2008 race yet?

I'm sure tired of seeing regs altered specifically to benefit holden. It was a refreshing change at the last B12hr to see some different brands challenging for the outright lead.

I still think a VE series HSV would be hard to beat in the 12 hr as long as it was reliable.

Could it keep the brakes and power steering systems alive for that long, in standard, road-going form?

Under the regs calipers are free provided they are not more than four spot front and 2 spot free. Rotors are free within the standard dimensions, and of course pads are free.
There is provision for fitting cooling systems for engine oil, transmission oils and power steering systems
Need to be thought out properly and driven sensibly, but could be done.

Can you run 2 calipers on the front wheels?

Mr Faulkner proved back in 2000 that he and Mr Aitken could run a well developed HSV to victory in the 3 hour race there.

Would Holden consider running one through one of its assisted Supercar teams... with a couple of pros aboard? At least then you would see how quick the thing really is
