I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he must have hit some tyre markers. Glad I never now!

Neate confirmed with WSR, according to Autosport. No word on the who's in the other seat yet.

Or seats. I believe it is still WSRs aim to have 3 BMWs racing this season.

Thompson would be the perfect fit for Dynamics and Honda based on previous reputations, it would be interesting to see what Steve Neal would do if Honda said the deals on for a works team but it excludes Matt Neal as a driver.....ummm

Why would Honda & Neal not been linking up? Just because you hate him IceBaby doesn't mean he's a bad driver.

Well, love him or loath him you can't deny that he has 2 championships. He's a top class driver.

For the sake of his wife and young family, many of us will remember her regular updates on his grave condition following that horrific accident at Silverstone, I hope Andy's making the right decision here. I wish him all the best.

I think you need to adjust your comment as I never said or implied this, only that there are arguably better drivers than Matt Neal at Dynamics/Honda, Giovanardi and Thompson to name but two.

All the best to Andy Neate for 2010

If I remember correctly they went over to the H-box last year.

Since RWD with a seq gearbox got -20kg start weight compared to other cars last year in BTCC, that statement seems very very weird. 2010, with enforced longer 1st gear might cause some to switch back to H-pattern, but those 20kg should still make it tempting to run seq.

I've been pretty worried about the BTCC during this silly season, although I feel slightly better after seeing some possibilities. Best case is Turkington alongside Neate at WSR, Collard and Adam at Motorbase, Neal and Thompson with works-backed Hondas for Dynamics, and Plato and Jackson in Cruzes for RML, a Triple 8 Vectra for Gio and 2 SEATs for Jones and Shedden, plus competitive Fords. Worst case is most of those on the sidelines, with pay-drivers in a few others. I can't remember it getting so late iwth so little announced from the big teams.

With respect, and perhaps it didn't affect you, but we've just gone through the worst economic period most of us will ever see. So don't you think that it takes much longer for some teams to get their deals together. Things are very different now to the 'good old days'. Last year the Plato/RML deal was done 4 days before the first race!

Look at all the very late deals for the WTCC announced in the last week, and their season starts in less than 2 weeks!

The BTCC is still a month away. Relax.

My sentiments exactly. I still believe that quite a few teams don't announce anything during the winter but they are their on the entry list on Media Day.

Motorsport news this week has a story on a chevrolet uk works team in 2010.

Also, in an odd source for a driver confimation, it looks like motorsport vision have jumped the gun by confirming Collard as a motorbase driver in 2010: http://www.motorsportvision.co.uk/br...sp?NewsID=5414

Quote:
Two participants will be selected at random during each session to receive one-to-one instruction from Motorbase driver Rob Collard and his team-mate, who will be announced in the coming weeks

Shaun Hollamby has said on btcc.net's forum that someone has purchased the Astra SportHatches to use this year.

It's a shame more of the teams don't do website blogs etc like the new VW team. It is very interesting to see the amount of work they are putting into preparing their car, and now having browsed through their photos etc and seen the preperation work, it would certainly make me wince to see anyone rubbing panels with them.

I completely agree with you. The picture blog's been fantastic. Its a brilliant insight into the construction/rebuilding of an S2000 spec. BTCC car and I'd encourage anyone who hasn't checked it out to visit it here. A huge thanks to Shaun for going to the trouble of doing it. As a racer myself I'd love to know some costs for each of the stages and a little more about how the bespoke parts are designed/manufactured... but that's me being greedy/cheeky.

It's not a rumor if you've just made it up.
