It means VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. We can easily translate that as Nürburgring Endurance Championship.

Looks like Haribo have got #8 and #88 mixed up. A photo of the GT3 Cup car in the paddock shows it wearing #8 instead of #88 as on the entry list.

Germans are the best with cars, and one of the best also on engineering, but they are really odd with their names, giving ultra-long names, don't they breathe between words? .

Just found out the organisers decided to place minimum pit stop times on the top classes.

it's a bonus for cars with more fuel consumption, but only until 10.30p.m. in the race. there is also a rule for a quicker fuel refilling for cars with bigger tanks for the hole race. so all the cars also with a 120-liter tank will stay the similiar times at the box than cars with a smaller tank as you see in the BoP:

http://www.24h-rennen.de/uploads/media/BoP_24h_2013.pdf

so it's not a benefit to save fuel. the organisisers said, that the team with the best drivers will win, because the cars are at one level.

but i think it's a bonus for the thirsty audi.

the race is also a big sale promotion event:

Some months ago I read an article from the German magazine "Sport Auto". I think it was a recap of last years 24h Nurburgring. They stated that Audi is a thirsty car, but the SLS benefited way more than the Audi.

I just looked at the timetable... am I blind or are the organizers insane? It says the race will finish on Monday http://www.24h-rennen.de/uploads/med..._Timetable.pdf

That means anyone who is employed will miss MOST of the race at work and having the needed sleep before going to said work. Incredible.

No, it's been known since last year that the race has been rescheduled this year for Sunday-Monday... since that particular Monday is a public holiday in Germany this year.

Except that it isn't a holiday in every country in Europe, we don't get a holiday on that day (our equivalent holiday, for example, is actually the Monday after Le Mans).

Can't believe you will sleep 8h.., at worst you've lost half race, considering you don't work near a computer or hyperworked that day.

The race starts as late as 6 PM for my local time, which doesn't help... ( so half race point is already Monday morning ) And yes, I do stare at the screen more or less the whole day every day. I wish I had faster internet at work, I doubt even RLM would be streamable.

Don't exaggerate, a radio streaming is not too demanding:

"Zimbabwe" is faster than you. can you confirm you understood that message?".

RLM would distract on job, on exams i don't carefully listen to them, you can allways f5 every minute on live timming, and on Nordchleife GPS in this case .
