jo1998sh should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Blancpain endurance series round 5- Silverstone

The final round of the BES will take place on the 9th and 10th of October at Silverstone , as usual it will be a 3 hour race.

They will be using the new wing. There are lots of titles still up for grabs in the different categories.

They wont be using the wing, as British GT / F3 will be there

Here is a more up to date entry list http://www.blancpain-endurance-serie...ad.php?key=236

Motors TV just starting now. Looks odd to seem them all lining up on the old start/finish straight, although at least it's better for paddock access for the spectators there at the circuit.

Indeed. Have they fiddled with the BOP ?

Nice to see the Alpina out in front, I always liked those cars when they ran in FIA GT3.

All this weekend's races (British F3, GT etc) are using the 'old' paddock on the Grand Prix Circuit. The old GP circuit no longer exists.

Alpina lost 30secs on their first stop, Nissan out and #59 Mclaren back in the pits. Kox storming though the midfield.

Looks like another amateurish stop for the Alpina... Dropped a wheel nut, lots of fumbling to recover.

The old paddock is much better for this kind of event (or any event for that matter) the support paddock is closer, better facilitys for the teams and fans plus the pitlane is wider.

Rain didn't amount to much in the end.

Marc VDS Z4 first, Ortelli in the WRT Audi took Petrobelli in the #29 Ferrari on the last lap for 2nd. Not the most incident-packed race, but some good battles and a close finish for the podium places.

Standing at Copse for a while today made me realise the difference in capabilities of drivers in this series. At some points I was surprised no contact was made while I was there!

I noticed DSC have reported something about a 'Blancpain Revival Series' for next year for cars built between '94 and '04 - a rehash of the GT90's idea? Anyone know much more about it?

nope but info about blancpain 2012 have been released, beyond the taxes info for the teams, next year there will be 6 round

monza
silverstone
paul ricard
spa
hockeneim or nurburgring
barcelona

i hope that a seventh round will be added, the season of this year was clearly too short.

Looks like it's a reboot of the GT90s series, but this time SRO have got an established historic racing organiser to help out. Apparently it will support all the Blancpain rounds - which might help make it a bit more successful than the last half-arsed effort. There must be so many eligible cars just sitting around out there.

That's what they said about GT90s.
I remember watching a McLaren GTR being packed away, as Michelin had 'forgotten' to bring any tyres to fit it???
It needs TLC for folk to race stuff that is still a monumental cash value.
Yet hard to find spares for, and nobody around to fix it, if you did find anything remaining made from Unobtanium...
There seems to be a 20 year gap, from Obsolete, to Historic. I wonder what the equivalent to VSCC will be for late 20th century race cars?

Can anyone from Europe gauge the popularity of this series there? From what I've gathered, this series isn't getting a whole lot of attention on the web or from motorsports sites. It's basically LMS for GT3 cars, but other than Spa 24, there doesn't seem to be anything very noteworthy.

I guess its just early stages and they're seeing how things go at the moment before a larger stab at promoting it next season? Its a good series and does have very good online race coverage, though.

I'd like to see the GT4 class promoted a little better, the race on Sunday was pretty much a two-car effort, and for a class that is supposed to promote a cheaper starting point in GT racing its very poor. There are a number of cars eligable now, with plenty of series opening their doors to them. I wonder why they don't see any point in entering the BES?

I have to ask... why?

GT racing has nearly always been about multi-class racing, and frankly I miss that from the FIA GT days (along with the noise but thats a different issue - just enter a Viper in BES next year and I'll be very happy!)

I wonder, have the costs of GT4 increased since its inception, in the style of GT3?
