Russell on the verge of 1st Title?
With his 3 closest competitors going out early in the 1st race, is The Enforcer on the verge of his first title?
Ambrose - out T.Kelly - out Richo - out I haven't calculate the points but 2 + 4th today and nil score from closest rivals - OK a few points for Richo, but not many. If Russell can keep off the walls tomorrow, the others will struggle to climb through the field, Russell should go to Tassie with a very healthy lead. |

I think Russell has a 60 point lead at the moment after race 1.

With 2x100k races tomorrow, 3 x 100k races at Symmons Plain, and 1x100k and 2x 140ks at Phillip Island , ....Russell has 780km to survive...a long way to go

By my calculations there is 512 points still up for grabs. Which if Russell didnt finish another race is easily going to leave any driver in the top 10 capable of passing him.

If Ingal fails to finish one race today (or any other left in the Title hunt) it would all be back to where it was at the start of Indy pretty much points wise. With the only exception that all four top guys would have had a points loss.
At this point it's still anyones but I'm sure they would all rather be in Russell's shoes. |

Personally I would love to see both Ingall and Lowndes beat Ambrose in the Championship this year and would lean towards Rusty overall if only for the fact he is heading towards the twilight of his career (no disrespect intended but he does seem to lack the outright car speed) whereas Craig will have a good shot at the title next year. Who knows what will happen at Stone Bros next season. |

Hey if Rusty wins the title, and 'forgets' to re-sign his SBR deal for next season, will he take the #1 to 888?

I am sure somebody would take old Rusty with the #1 to go on the door....
Imagine Mr Ingall lining up for Britek as series champion |

Seriously though, who in their right mind would wan't to be alongside CL at 888 in 2006. Would have to be a career killer for sure.. I mean, look at Russell now at SBR. He probably will go on to win the series this year but.....it he can't match Ambrose for speed & consistency, how the hell will he go against argueably the best touring car driver in the world?????????
Do yourself a favour Russell & win the title for SBR this year & be lead driver for SBR in 2006. Sounds like a smarter thing to do than chase the 888 cash.. |

But if Rusty wins the series, and is on a Ford Loyalty deal, he can be put to any of the Ford teams if 888 doesnt work out...
Go Britek |

I thought the #1 would stay with the franchise, though? There was discussion last year when Bright was threatening (before Crash Bandicoot) about the possibility of Murph ending up with #1 on his door...

It is the right of the championship winning DRIVER to display the number one, not the team or franchise or anyone else. If the driver leaves the series there is no number 1 in the field. But remember people Rusty hasn't won it yet.

No, it's not won yet. It will still be going until PI most probably. Lowndes is looking quite threatening at the moment.
