Some good infos (french) and pictures about 3.5 l. Gp. c cars can be found at http://gto-racing.nexen.net.
All I want to say is that the rules come around just when the fuel formula was offering some good racing, the grids were full of different cars (both of the C1 and C2 categories) and all the major Japanese manufacturers were deeply involved....
Surely the early '90s world recession may be a cause, but with the new rules one by one the major manufacturers left, Peugeot went and stayed in for three years and the privateers, and the small (Gp. C2) constructors, had virtually nowhere to go....
And in 1993 there was no World Endurance Championship....

If I were cynical (!), I might suggest that the rules were actually created for Peugeot.......
