The reports suggest that France dominated, and Brazil fell short of their dominance at Brands Hatch. For the statisticians amongst us, the data suggests that Brazil may still be scarily dominant on track.

I was bored and hadn't got enough to drink, OK, before you ask.

But I looked at the fastest laps for the top 12 teams, and then (as some people may be better than others at getting that one best lap out of the tyres) at the next two fastest laps, to get an idea of who was lapping consistently quickly. I looked at the 3rd quickest lap, to discount the one-lap flying lap. I added the top 3 fastest laps together to see what sort of an advantage was gained over those 3 laps. Surprise, surprise, Brazil were fastest per lap in everything, by 2/10ths or more over France (2nd quickest) and very consistently quick.

Germany, for example, posted a fastest lap only 3/10ths slower than Brazil, yet over 3 fast laps, they lost nearly 2 seconds. Italy, whose fastest lap was 5/10ths off Brazil, lost nearly 3 seconds over those 3 laps. Great Britain were about 5/10ths off Brazil per lap, which is getting closer. Czekoslovakia and Netherlands were also pretty quick in what seemed a fairly unobtrusive way.

It also shows what a good job Jonny Reid did for NZL.

Not that you can read too much into data alone, but it's also interesting to see where that fastest lap was posted in relation to fuel load and how new the tyres were. France, Great Britain and Switzerland posted their best laps right at the end of the race.

Draw any conclusions you wish:
