Minichamps and IXO made the Toyota GT-ONE.
Spark have made the CLK-LM and 'flying' CLR. Check out http://www.modellissimo.de/ |

Hello lj79,
Just seen your post about the Dauer Porsche. First time I have logged in since returning from Le Sarthe. I bought one even though I have a copy of the first issue. Completism and all that! I kind of feel for the collectors who can't go to Le Mans and have to buy through eBay. I have no argument about a profit being made, none at all, and if I had the time and the initiative I would most likely do what you are doing. My gripe is with Minichamps again. I had to buy the Taka-Q Porsche at a price I would rather not have paid because it was a 'special ' issue in Japan. I can recall the forceful 'well don't buy it' argument by another forum member. Well if you want a complete set you have no option, hence you will have no difficulty in disposing of the extras you took home. But Minichamps are once again paying no regard to loyal collectors around the world. So what will be the 'special' next year? It'll be a reissue. Spark on the other hand did an excellent job with some forward planning to have the ORECA Audi R8 Test Day car available for the race and then for general release. I hope it sold well. I bought one. Did you see the dealer with the rip-off Minichamps showcase. Taka-Q Porsche and a couple of McLaren F1 GTRs at €500 each. A Toyota GT-ONE for €300. An Audi R8 €200!! Several of the old Onyx 962s for €55. I do hope nobody was sucked into that scam. I took home the Le Mans 43 versions of the 1983 Lancia LC1/82 cars. Quality is poor, but when you have the opportunity to compare a couple of dozen on the shelf you can get something that is at best OK. At €25 each it was not breaking the bank. John |

The 85 Newman 956 was up for 500 euros too.
I saw the Oreca test day car, but thought it looked really naff - very cheap. I saw the LC2s but I've got a Madayaro one which is fantastic. Spark is churning out a load of stuff at the moment and it appears that quality may be sacrificed at the expense of volume |

I'm interested to see why you thought the car was really naff, a side by side comparison with the 2004 Goh Minichamps car shows much better rear wing elements (i.e. thinner photo-etch) and slightly more realistic headlights. Seatbelts on the Spark are unfortunately a decal but apart from that, it's a good replica (and on the market in 3 months). |

wheel rims, not the requisite number of antennae and iirc a problem with scale - perhaps too many beers - the dimensions didn't look right. The decals on the one I saw were out of line too

I've kicked off my 1:12 motorbike collection now luke, and that's about it.
I'm trying to get all the Rossi bikes, too bloody expensive some of them though. Particularly the 2001 Mugello Honda NSR 500. Other than that, nothing is happening my end. |

Some from mail order and oversea's through eBay too. I have amassed that collcetion over a number of years now, and am very close to nearing the completion of my BTCC models, the only ones i really want are a 94 Volvo 850 estate, and a 95 & 96 BMW 320i (inc the Goldeneye model) but these three rarely fetch less than 50 quid each on eBay, a little too much for me. |

I don't have room for all the 1/43 models I'd like, so I limit myself to the 'toy' sizes, and modify paint them if they they are close in shape to the originals:
Ferrari 250LM and 250P, both modified from the Husky 250LM from the 1960s. Matchbox Ferrari F1, more or less standard, and another one painted as Prost in the 1988 McLaren-Honda, with Senna standing by. Couple of Matchbox Ford GT40s, with the later wide wheels; given deeper nose and painted as 1966 and 1968 winners. Polistil Martini Lotus 80, unmodified; and Porsche 936 and 935 repainted in Martini colours. For afficionados of the movie 'Grand Prix', the finish of the British GP at Brands Hatch; Aron's Yamura pips Sarti's Ferrari - couple of Matchbox Lotus 25s modified & painted. And Pete Aron blocking Scott Stoddard at Monaco; repainted Matchbox BRMs. Paul M |

Hello there guys.
I appreciate I run the risk of disappointing everyone, but I'm closing this thread. It has simply grown too large to serve the useful purpose which was intended for it. Think about it - if anyone comes to it now, it would take them days to read it! Please feel free to start new thread model collecting/building/whatever threads as the fancy takes you. I am thinking along possible lines, of, say: F1 models (whether long past or recent) Sportscars - Le Mans, GTs (again old or new) Touring Cars - you know, like BMW M3s...... I'm not necessarily suggesting we need to compartmentalise everything, otherwise in a year's time we'll have an F1 models thread which runs to 2,000 posts, but if you have a different angle on modeling - such as the great dioramas we've seen in the existing thread, feel free to start a new one. The mods will then decide if subject matter is too close to justify more than one thread. The original thread will remain available to be read by everyone. Thanks Last edited by Aysedasi; 7 Jul 2005 at 07:40. |
