Nice to know that they bundled that documentary with the BD release.

Got my Blu-Ray copy yesterday, so now I have it on DVD, Blu-Ray plus a bunch of difference LP Soundtracks from the movie.

I got my copy on DVD years ago, it was in the bargain bin at a local store. Will watch again in the lead up to the great race.

I saw an original Le Mans movie poster in Paris a few months ago. It was 900 Euros! Not sure if it was worth it though...

About a month ago it was reported that Michael Mann "...is nearing a deal with 20th Century Fox to direct "Go Like Hell," the true story of the furious competition between Ford and Ferrari in 1966, when an American car won Le Mans race for the first time."

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118037661

Suddenly Hollywood seems quite interested in racing movies.

Sadly, I'm old enough to remember going to the cinema to watch it with my girlfriend (now my wife of many years...) when it first appeared.

An implausible plot, a dreadful script and a great film!

I was going to agree with you about the plot, but then scratched my head and wondered "what plot?". I'm lost in admiration for the fact that it takes until about 40 minutes in for there to be any dialogue, and that the script, if you transcribed it would probably fit on one side of A4.

None of this takes anything away from it being an utterly brilliant and captivating piece of cinema. Beautiful, self indulgent, projects like this should be rightly celebrated.

And thanks to that showing at Le Mans, we have subtitles running through just about every situation now.
