That seems like a pretty serious issue to have at this point in the car's development.

nismo/JR gt-r GT3 didn't suffer these kind of problems during 2010 races, so i guess that is more a set-up problem then a overall car problem.

I'd be surprised if the CR-Z is ready for track-testing, for the reason this is a very late project since the car will make it's race debut at Sugo (or so).

That was my first thought up on reading Japanese Samurai's post. I wonder if there is much difference between the JRM car and the SGT car?

But then again this is just a rumour apparently. Nismo would be mightily embarressed if this were true.

This is Okayama test photo of GTR GT3.
The opening section of radiator grill has spread.
It is clear that they need cooled air.

I hope its not true, but then again its just a rumour. I want this team to win the 2012 GT300 Championship. Yes I know they are the newbies on the block. But I am a Nissan fan

Damn! No actual races, what a crying shame (for that I will keep taking a less 'legal' way (and the only way, actually), for as long as it lasts (i.e. - whilst the site is not taken down by the powers that be).

Still, it's a step. At least GT-A is doing something. Gotta give them credit for that. I am actually surprised to hear this. It was not so long ago I was really upset with them for ceasing the international page with the redesigned website. By the way, it is back online!!

JS, do you have any info on the disagreement between the Germans and the Japanese regarding bringing the rules inline? Last I heard, BMW wanted GT500 cars to bring their engines in line with theres? Also, anyone speculate on what's going to happen with the single chassis DTM vs bespoke GT500?

I hope they stay as they are in SuperGT and DTM make their rules merge to them, not the other way around. I haven't heard anything new though.

I thought that Japanese manufacturers and German manufacturers had already agreed on regulations unification.
However, Honda says it would like to race by next gen NSX (midship engine) in 2015.
This means that Honda refused acceptance of DTM regulations.
Therefore, it is unclear whether regulations are unified or not.

It's too late for DTM to reconsider regulations.

Inter Proto Series machine is unveiled. Cool!

Too late for the initial series to merge. But future regulations could be up for debate. By the time the NSX is even available, it will be 2014 at the earliest. So 3 years from now is a lot of time to allow the new NSX if they change to allow mid engined cars. Audi could maybe allow the new R8? Nissan will have the Infinity emerge, maybe Lexus will have a new car.

What I heard from the GTE meeting is that people from ITR came to see GTA early this year and was extremely disappointed that they leave Tokyo after a few hours...

GTA agreed on collaboration but not unification of regulation. ITR wanted GTA to use DTM monocoque. Using DTM monocoque means a blow to the Japanese motorsport industry. GTA also refused to use ITR engine rules because in 2014, GTA wants to streamline the engine regulation with Formula Nippon. So, I supposed there would not be a unification.

I'm all for collaboration but not unification of regulations so Im not so sad to see talks go nowhere. If the Germans want to race in SGT they should do it in on GTA's terms. Hey BMW have done it before and they walked away with the championship.

Masahiko Matsumoto's Honda SGT report -Okayama round preview-

*2012 spec HSV-010
-The development theme of 2012 spec HSV-010 is "normal evolution of side radiator-ization".
-Since it was designed as cornering machine, while HSV-010 had much downforce, there were also much drag. We furthered this season aerodymamic development which reduces drag, maintaining downforce.
-Rear wing stays(V-shape), rear fender, front fender, and front undercover changed.
-We succeeded in reduction of drag. It became possible to change downforce balance in front and rear according to circuit.
-Since air restrictor valve was expanded by two ranks, engine power improved by about 40 H.P.
-Furthermore, HSV equips with an air-conditioner this season.
-Also in the Bridgestone tire, structure and compound have evolved.

*About pre-season test and Okayama round
-In the Fuji test, our straight line speed was a little inferior to Lexus SC430s.
-However, in the Suzuka test, we have exceeded the course record for about 1 second.
-Okayama is a technical circuit advantageous to HSV-010.
-Young Izawa, Yamamoto, and Tsukakoshi will tow Honda.

Agreed totally. GTA wants to have separate rules but equalized by BOP (in GT500) but ITR is more interested in selling parts to GTA.

On another note, the new GTE (the entrant association) chairman, Aguri Suzuki already state his displeasure in seeing a lot of GT3 cars in GT300. GTE already pressured GTA to give an advantage to the JAF GT300 cars since last year. As a result, the final 2012 JAF GT300 regulation was a real shame with lots of cut and paste articles from the past. And in trying to give an advantage, GTA actually give the JAF car runners a lot of headache because of the last minute changes.
