Best Spin (& Recovery???)

OK... I know you lot always talk about the best crash, overtaking manoeuvre etc, but who does every one think completed the best spin possibly with recovery or not????

Personally, I've witnessed Muller on several occasions at the Esses at Snetterton pull off some excellent recoveries - although he did always seem to take Thompson with him...

Yeah, Muller at Snetterton during the night race was spectacular. A tiny tap from Mr Plato put him completly sideways at the bomb hole and managed to get back.
Another one, people may not remember is Kelvin Burt at the last round in '95. He got a tap from Hoy (i think) and spun at high speed into the infield at copse and was heading towards the barriers, and just managed to get hold of it. Quote Murrey Walker, ' Wow, what a recovery brilliant'.

Ok, maybe not BTCC, but whenever I go "e-karting" (go-karting with electric motors, which are quite powerful) I always get it sideways through almost all of the corners and it's quite a lot of fun to drive.

Menu between the first and second corners at Snett in about '96 - I think he was avoiding someone or something ahead and went every which way, 360s the lot, but still got it gathered up to turn onto revett straight. Mega.

Or Soper at Old Hairpin, Donington '92. Three maybe even four 360s on first lap while leading and still everyone missed him!

It was actually at Donington exiting the chicane on the GP circuit. He'd started at the back after retiring in the first race and got up to third when he had that moment. It was amazing to watch - particularly from the rear view camera of the car in front! What a catch.

I was actually standing at that corner at Dinington when Tarquini nearly stacked it. If you listen hard on the season review tape you can hear someone scream - THAT WAS ME!!!! Top race though, Tarquini started last and fought his way back up to 4th or 5th... top,top overtaking action!

What about saves?
What about Tarquini at silverstone night races (2000)
radermecker nailed the back of his honda but he saved it from ending up in the gravel.

oh n tom boardman aswell at brands (last round 2001)
the car snaked about 5 times, and although he skimmed accross the gravel, he still didn't end up in the barrier, like graves.

who lost control of his own accord (get it?!!) ahh forget it..

Pip: thanks for the scream - it's the whole reason the moment was - IS - so exciting to watch on telly.

Best spin? Has got to be Yvan Muller at the snett night race this year. His Vauxhall went from side-to-side and went all over the place. Also Geoff Steel at snetterton in '94. He spun about 4 times.

I thank you, I thank you.... will be doing a signing session later!!!

Another good save was Thompson at Silverstone in 98 or 99 (someone help me out here)? when Reid speared him after skidding on oil and he fought back in a somewhat banana shaped car to win the race

Bloody hell Chris... not seen that photo before!

Boardman and Muller have to win the award for best car control last year... though that MG coming down Paddock Hill sideways broadside across the front of the rest of the field was pretty impressive... especially as he managed to straighten it up and continue on his way...

What about Alain Menu at Donington 94

Spins umpteen times in his Laguna and only loses 1 place

Murray Walker "And thats Menu, off 180 degrees, 360 degrees!"

That's because there was only one car behind him! Still, a good save. My favorite would probably have to be Soper @ Donington in 1992. Murray's comment is pretty funny.

My thanks to Pip, as I've always wondered who that was who screamed when his car went up on 2 wheels! I'll have to watch that again.

I love in that Mini photo how the driver is still preparing the car for the next apex - once he's got the left side wheels down I'm sure. Wicked. Probably Mr. Bean in there. It may be the fastest way through there, though certainly not the safest. Thanks for the pic.

Whenever I have seen Muller (crunch corner...ha ha) It's always when we are retrieving his car from the ditch on the exit of Church at Thruxton.

Did someone mention cars up on two wheels At Knockhill, Dan Eaves and Tom Boardman had to be the most sensational for that.
