Good for them.

Nice to see a championship where GT3 Porsches are still going strong. Also, is it just me or are we getting more and more pro lineups each year?

I'd say it's comparable to 2012 and 2013. And those year's have been quite decent in terms of professionality.

Oschersleben

The ADAC GT Masters season starts this weekend and the entry list is - as far as I can see - close to complete with 9 brands in total:
http://www.adac-gt-masters.de/de/starterliste/

Enge, Frentzen, Kox, Gavin, Buhk, Winkelhock, Rast, Bleekemolen, Seyffarth, Engel, Hürtgen, Renauer, Baumann, Engelhart Thiim, Keilwitz... lots of quality in the field this year!

Races are on SAT and SUN at 12 CET (live on kabel1).

Good to see sportscar maniac, workaholic and epic Dutchman Jeroen Bleekemolen on the entry list.
So far this year he has done Daytona 24hrs, Sebring 12hrs, IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup testing at Sebring, Brazilian Stock Cars at Sao Paulo, Asia Porsche Carrera Cup testing at Sepang, 4hr VLN at Nordschleife and N24 qualifying race and Blancpain Sprint at Nogaro.

And probably something else. Really hope he gets a Le Mans Drive after SRT's withdrawal.

Looks like a huge hit for Nicki Thiim at the start of race two. Seen a few scary pics. Hopefully all is well. He was apparently speaking when they took him out of the car.

Apparently a bit of pain in his leg and hips but he's fine. Will stay in hospital for observation according to DSC. He was interviewed on TV so seems he's in good shape comparatively.

Wow that Audi really got some speed up in mid air.

Glad to hear Thiim is ok, that was scary to watch.

How is this guy not signed up by a factory squad?
Seriously, he's at least as good as any of the drivers in the WEC factory teams.
Why does he keep getting ignored?

Lack of prototype experience. He was strong when driving for Rebellion but not a particular standout next to their regular drivers. Star in a GT car though, yes. And his reputation means he may well be better off raving as a private contractor than only being able to do events on behalf of one manufacturer. Maybe.

I would love to know if he can't get a factory drive or if he doesn't want one. He is clearly willing and able to drive anything with a roof and he is driving nearly every weekend.

Viper, Corvette, Lambo, Merc, Porsche... Tough life.

Well he had one early in his career with Opel in DTM, and really didn't set the world of fire back then. But then it was of course in an Opel and in a year-old car at that, so he didn't have much of a chance to shine.

He should have lived that done by now, but it might have been damaging to his chances of getting a factory gig a few years ago.

Bleekemolen deserves a decent front running seat in whatever class.
Too bad that he still is not signed up for Le Mans after the Viper withdrawl

I was wondering that too.
Thinking about it, if he was a Porsche factory driver, they likely stop him from racing for another manufacturer right? Especially as in whatever series he'd race in for another manufacturer would likely be against Porsche seeing as they are everywhere.

So maybe he simply likes being able to go race everything everywhere whenever he wants?
If so, fair play to him, there's barely a weekend goes by when he isn't racing something.

Gee, you're a tough marker! I can't help thinking that an LMP2 victory at Le Mans, albeit 6 years ago, wouldn't qualify as prototype experience. Sure... his forte these days in in GT's, but you could put Mr Bleekemolen in a billycart and he would be competitive. The guy can drive anything very quick. He was on my list as a "highly probable", before Porsche finalized their lineup.

If they don't compete in the class, Porsche doesn't mind people racing if the schedule permits it. Brendan Hartley comes to mind, who participated in the daytona 24 in a DP. Audi did the same thing with Mike Rockenfeller, also in a DP.

I know this isn't the "fans of Bleekemolen" thread, but before we get back on topic I wanted to say his qualifying performance in a GTC porsche at Baltimore a few years ago in the ALMS is one of the greatest racing highlights I have ever seen. Threading his way through the barriers was impressive, getting out of the car to pick up his lost tire was smart, and getting back to the pits to get the tire put back on before going out and getting the pole was damn heroic!!!
