Also, any chance of a Gallardo or McLaren doing the 24H this year? or Ferrari 458? Bizarre you don't really see those cars doing the race; mainly Porsche, Audi, and Mercedes.
It is a fantastic event, but it is mostly a German event. Having said that, anybody is welcome. There have been McLarens entered in past few years, but with little success. Aston Martin usually has a decent presence and was pretty competitive for the overall last year.

And it's great to see the Belgians in Marc VDS and WRT competing as well as a factory Aston effort aimed at winning outright honors.

Miss the Hankook Ferrari though, in capable hands it was certainly a contender and won at least 1 VLN round

I was wrong. According to the entry list for this weekend, the LFA Code X is in VLN Specials Pro class, not SP8. Its joined by a 911 GT3 RSR from Manthey and a C6 Corvette. There is also a GT3 Ferrari in SP9.

There are 2 cars in E1XP. One is a Nissan 350 Z in E1XP1 and the other is a Seat Leon Supercopa in E1XP2. Somebody know why these cars are in E1XP? Are they testing a new technology in these old cars?

Great Nissan news, three GT3s including two RJN cars and a certain Nick Heidfeld joining them: http://www.endurance-info.com/en/thr...ring-24-hours/

That's awesome news, great to see more factories putting entries into the race.

Btw it was fantastic to see the Dorr McLaren finish second on the weekend. So close to victory but a wonderful result nonetheless and also for Marc VDS to grab another win this year.

I'm asking some general info on the track.
Do you have some good sites with useful info for the 24 hours race, maps and things like that? I'd also like to know how to move around the circuit. Can I walk all around the place visiting the track easily without having to go far from the circuit? Is there a path where you can walk comfortably?

I wonder if star power like Nick Heidfeld would win the 24 hour race? Even though the production version of the GT-R is a beast in Nordschleife, the GT3 version sometimes have back luck when aiming at the top.

You can walk most of the perimeter of the track, but not all of it... IIRC the part from Breitscheid to Klosertal is pretty much unaccessible by foot, and there are also some parts of the downhill section before Breitscheid where the footpath is really far away from the track. As for your question of it being comfortable: the footpath has all the elevation change that the track has, so depending on your constitution it can be quite strenuous in some parts.

There are shuttle busses during race week, but don't count on getting onto the first bus you see, they are usually quite crowded.

Good shoes are a must. Forgot to change to my hiking boots last weekend, I'm still being reminded for it. No nicely paved paths like in Francorchamps. It's worth the walk though, but then I love nature and sports car racing.

I was looking at the track section near Adenau. Can I walk from Breidscheid/Wehrseifen to Adenauer Forst without having to go on the street and take the bus/car?

I've noticed from the trackside videos that the GT3 Z4s seem to sound different (less throaty V8 sound) from the ones racing elsewhere, is this because they are "Ring specials" in a different spec or...?

I could be wrong, but to me every other car sounds louder at the Ring, are there less restrictions on noise?

I thought the SP9 spec allowed for slightly more power than GT3 (from the Leh Keen "Rain Dance" interview)?
