Doesn't the camo scheme indicate that it is some type of a new version? Why hide the current bodywork?

Well there haven't been any official shots of the new R8 roadcar released yet, I imagine they are testing the GT3 version in parallel, testing it without hiding the bodywork would steal the road car's thunder a little, so it must be the new one really with the new road car out next year.

very strange, maybe could be a test mule of the 2015 R8 LMS GT3? and even if this car is based on the R8 successor, is very strange they are already testing the derivated racing car... I don't think that ferrari or mercedes were already testing the 458 GTE or the sls GT3 before the release of the street models. Could be a sort of E1XP car to use at nurburgring next year?

Since Audi's customer business with the R8 LMS and Ultra has been so successful, why wouldn't they develop the GT3 version in parallel with the road car? Why wait?
It might cost a little more to keep up with changes, but it would also mean that the GT3 version would be ready to roll in plenty of time for teams to upgrade at the end of 2014, and to know what to seek form sponsors for the 2015 season. |

Racing Engineering still looking at P2 for 2015, despite not getting involved this year.

Cool news, though I think Wirth Research had not done a bad job in the past for HPD and they have their LMP1 design ready to build. McLaren has to start from scratch and F1 is not LMP today.

But with Honda racing in WTCC and joining F1 as an engine supplier a full works LMP1 entry is unlikely.

So then are we kind of confirming Honda and Nissan lmp1´s for 2015? Cause that would be awesome. And if ferrari would join on 2016 and jag and mclaren in GTE that would be dream-like!!!!
