[V8ST12R04] Mike Pero 250 at Hampton Downs, June 1-3

Round 4 of the V8SuperTourer series across the pond...

Will we see more different winners, different people at the front of the pack?

There were new cars said to be joining in... are they on track for this round, or after the winter break?

Lets see what happens...

yes looking forward to this one, have hopped on to early bird tickets so they are very reasonable. I think one thing we can gaurantee is that the air temps wont be hitting 28 Degc like they did last time.

If its dry we may get some pretty impressive lap times.

and i suppose this round will settle the drivers championship for the sprint rounds wont it? If that is the case then its looking good for Mr Reid, but as always i'll be throwing my support behind the #47 car.

Hope we do get 18 on the grid though, that will be great

Do you believe everything you read???

I knew it would not be ready a while ago when I saw it.

Yes it would seem you have 20/20 hindsight.

I don't really understand how Fogg can build an entire car in 10 days but the Corkery car can't be repaired in 4 weeks?

Well even if there is just 17, thats still an impressive number for a fledgling series dont you think?

2 new boys confirmed for this weekends racing, be interesting to see how they slot in, both fantastic drivers, but 3 rounds down on the others, in freshly completed cars. How do you reckon Fogg and Gaunt go?

As plenty of people keep saying the chassis was fairly straight, you'd have to think it was lack of $$ or lack of available parts..

Either that or there's something in the design of the cars that make them a sloooooooooooow fix.

It will be interesting to see if the ST prototype makes an appearance this weekend. With talk of lack of parts around, Fogg's car could be half prototype. Great effort though.

Believe the second option, parts are the issue.

Without the chassis jig the cars were built on even in this country, my guess is that they spent their time checking it was dead straight before even beginning to repair it.

Sure, other overseas teams might have been able to fix it quicker, this is a new series, and this was the first major shunt. So spare parts haven't exactly been sitting on the shelf waiting for tis kind of occasion.

Interesting.. To be honest I would have thought this being the first major shunt would have been the reason that there were parts on the shelf, not a reason for the cupboard being empty...

Considering it's been a month since the crash and 4 months since the start of the series, it's not a real good look.

From the sounds of things the car wasn't torn up too badly, so it'd be interesting to know what parts are in short supply?

Bloody lucky they haven't had a few more big 'uns...

Agreed, there should be plenty of spare parts available seeing how the teams aren't allowed to fabricate their own.

Oh, that one.

I just guessed it was one of the cars already on track.

Someone must know what happened to it.

The team's press release was a sort of foot in both camps, on one hand saying it was a massive job, on the other saying there was a delay in getting parts...

On both counts though you would have thought a month is long enough to get the car up and running again. I'd imagine there's plenty of local examples where similarly or even more damaged cars have been turned around in a similar time frame (From memory Foggy, Edgell and (maybe) Bargs had damaged chassis after Puke last year and I can't remember there being a ? over them being at the next round.....

Just feels a bit odd is all...

but the NZV8 is built from a road car. all they needed to do was to nip over to Manukau and pinch a shiekh's taxi and rob it for components.
I remember Peter Van Brugal (spl?) had a big shunt at timaru in his Nissan, and the car was essentially a write off, but was patched up for the next round a week or 2 later.

Likewise Paul Manualls car when it hit the tyres at the end of the back straight and it was at Teretonga the following week.

Suggest you go take a look around the same group of people in Timaru that fixed those cars Smoking Joe and see what you can find out and report back.
