Considering going out to buy it today (tried yesterday, but nobody had stocked it yet...). Unfortunately, though, I haven't seen any reviews of it by normal consumers (only game-mag hype), so don't know if it enough of an improvement to CMR04 to make it worth the purchase...

It's pretty good, I've only done the first two trophies so far (both the 2 wheel drive ones with the Polo and MG). Some of the stages are the same as those in previous versions but the graphics and handling are a step up from CMR04.
The range of cars is pretty good too - there's a welcome return for the 6R4, plenty of other Group B cars and the WRC cars are there in force. I could happily live without the freelanders though. The Escorts are a Mk1 and a group A cosworth, I'm suprised the Mk2 hasn't made an appearance for a while though (it was in the original CMR but hasn't appeared since). If you liked the previous games in the CMR series then you'll like this one too, it's pretty much more of the same with some nifty tweaks and some different cars. |

The Mk1 is much better to drive in CMR2005 than CMR04, it seems like a totally different animal.
Damage seems to be handled better too..... They really should put a Mk2 in the next one, with the Rothmans clour scheme preferably - it's one of the classic rallying images. |

Totally agree, however I am a fan of the Gulf colors, sky blue with the orange stripe, lovely !!! (I saw a mk1 at Longmoore last year painted in this livery, looked the business)

Tried the demo. Utterly awful (for example, the grass has the same grip than mud!!!!!!!!!! Shame on you Codemasters)
If you're going to buy a good rally sim, stick with Richard Burns Rally!!!!!!!! |

The full version is much better, I can confirm that if you put the back of the escort off of the road and onto the grass...
...its time to hold on and enjoy the ride Last edited by sjw75; 30 Sep 2004 at 23:39. |

Not sure whether to get this....although it looks damn good.
Games are coming out thick and fast.....Pro Evo Soccer 4 is out on the 15th, and Gran Turismo 4 and GTA: San Andreas are out on November the 29th! Plus I need Burnout 3.......I'm afraid Colin falls to the bottom of the list (this usually means I'll buy it next week! ). |

I went into the games shop and asked the guy weather to get Burnout 3 or CMR2005, I plumped for Burnout 3 and don't regret it, althouh CMR2005 still looks appealing.

Picked up CMR05 yesterday and played through the first rally (Finland), and it is great fun. Really, it doesn't seem hugely improved over CMR04, although there are differences: a bit better graphics, a bit harder to control (but same feel), and the crash/damage modeling is great. Also nice to be able to choose from more cars. Haven't started in the career portion yet... maybe that will really set it apart from 04...

A mate of mine bought it, hated it and lend it out to me!
Great game, especially the career part of it is quite good. Oooh, and my favourite rally car is in it, the Lancia Stratos! |

Does the career mode carry any sort of challenge or do you just rip right through it?

Just bought it today and I can say it is not really different to CMR04. The stages seem really awful - for example gravel on the Germany stages and half of the GB ones are run on tarmac!! Perhaps the series is getting a bit tired? WRC3 is a bit more fun I reckon.
It's not that it is a bad game, but just not worth the £30 if you've already got CMR04. I'll take it back on Monday. Knowlesy - I easily won the first step on the career mode. I bit boring cos it was that easy! BTW, driving the Escort Cossie was nice |

I have played CMR04 and i thing it's the best rally game out there.
It has improved my driving skills on the road and track which is good. But there are some thing in CMR04 that i just don't understand like when you hit a sign or hay the car comes to a complete stop and also when your doing championship mode you need to score enough points to continue,do these things happen in real life? I am not sure if i will by CMR05 but i was just wondering if it had more tracks. Is the rally of Monte Carlo in CMR05 because i can't find it in 04? |

Dubby99, do yourself a favor and buy Richard Burns Rally. You'll see what is really a rally-sim about
