How about this then:
"Testing at Fiorano began at 09h00. In the morning, Luca Badoer ran on an artificially flooded track and concentrated on set-up work and the development of new components. He did a total of 20 laps in the wet, the best being a 1.12.702. After the lunch break, testing resumed at 13h10, with the same programme, this time on a dry track. In this section, Luca Badoer completed 60 laps with a best time of 1.02.744. Testing at Fiorano ended at 18.30." And this appeared on the team's official site on 10 June. Note the part mentioning "artificially flooded track"... Abracadabra!

Fiorano has a built in sprinker system which can be used to simulate wet conditions.
Ferrari can therefore test in whatever combination of conditions they choose. So getting the right setup for a dry/wet race on a low downforce track should be no real problem. It seems strange that the only person who mentioned rain in Canada was Ross Brawn, when Martin Brundle spoke to him on the grid. I can't imagine that every other team somehow lost the plot??? |

Hmmm, they do this on regular basis.
But how about this one: In Ring, both Ferraris were very light and on fresh tires. The rain started on lap 12, and they pit in laps 15 and 16, before a normal pit-stop... |

Actually Schume, all of the weather forcasts from the past week to Sunday morning had indicated only a 30% POP. Everybody thought it would rain on Saturday, and when it was bright and sunny everybody in Montreal assumed it would be the same for the race. Even though it was cloudy, everyone in my grandstand was surprised when it started to pitter-patter, and being mostly Quebecois could not take it and left. So we got a very empty grandstand
 .

Thanx for the info, Schume, I already knew that. My point was that the recently signed contract between Ferrari and the French meteorological office seems to be paying off. Either that, or they tampered with the weather
(apparently, it is now possible to cause artificial rain or even snow firing CO2 or something into the atmosphere)... Whatever it was, it made the race more interesting. How about an FIA Wet Weather F1 World Championship? Fire away...

Devlin...Thanks for the info about the Ferrari contract with the French Weather people....Didn't know that.
Have any other teams got this sort of deal?? Is Michael Fish signed up with McLaren???? Maybe this is an area that Bernie has missed out on... Or maybe he is already messing with the weather??? Wonder if there will be some FIA Rules coming along about using weather forecasts?? |
