Pacwest to be powered by Honda

According to autosport ( www.autosport.com ) Pacwest are to switch from Toyota to Honda engines

quoting from their article .....

"PacWest Champ Car team is to ditch Toyota power in favour of its Japanese rival Honda next year, according to this week's AUTOSPORT magazine.

Bruce McCaw's team is thought to still be involved in negotiations with both manufacturers, but insiders insist that although a deal has yet to be done, Honda have got the nod.

PacWest switched to Toyota power for this year, but the relationship hit the rocks halfway through the season when the team protested that it was one of the few outfits not to receive its engines free of charge.

Honda is known to want to increase the number of teams it supplies for next year as both Penske cars and one Mo Nunn Racing entry will be lost to the rival Indy Racing League series.

The marque is also keen to associate itself with up and coming rookie Scott Dixon, although the young Kiwi is likely to lose out on a test drive with the Toyota Formula 1 team due to the Honda switch.

Both manufacturers are due to pull out of the CART series at the end of next year, although Toyota could stay on as a customer supplier."

Didn't Pac West sell Dixon's contract to Toyota to pay for their engines last year? If this is the case, Dixon won't be with the team next year (if Honda are the supplier), and Dixon will probably end up at Ganassi.

It would be a bewildering decision if it was to cost the team Dixon's services & what will happen if Honda does indeed leave the series.
