Alonso in Arrows
Hi, do any of you walking encyclopedia's know when Alonso had a seat fitting for a test in an Arrows and if he actually tested. I know he had a seat fitting as I have his seat but would like to know when that was.

I don't recall him ever testing for Arrows, are you sure you weren't thinking Minardi who he tested for 13th Dec 1999.

Not an answer to your question, but I know he tested for Jaguar. I think it was during his test year with Renault.

I don't recall, off the top of my head, him ever testing for Arrows.
He had a Jag test in 2002, a Minardi test in 1999 and that was it as I recall. |

Didn't Minardi buy what was left of Arrows and then use the Arrows chassis as the basis for the next seasons Minardi.
IIRC this happened just after Stoddart took over. |

I know he was supposed to test an Arrows hence the seat fitting but can find no evidence of the test ever happening. I got the seat as part of a lot of arrows parts.

Stoddard only bought some old Arrows chassis., rather than what was left of the team. Super Aguri are currently working out of the former Arrows factory.

I have no recollection of Alonso ever testing for Arrows. However, I seem to remember reading that in 2002 after Heinz-Harald Frentzen left Arrows following the German Grand Prix, Renault agreed that Alonso could race for Arrows in Hungary in order to increase his experience of that circuit. Unfortunantly, Arrows's financial problems put an end to any racing before that particularly race.

well then that is most likely what the seat fitting was for, but budget meant the race and possible tests never happened.

When you think about it, it's really amasing. If, just few days ago, a casual F1 viewer would have came across this info, and tried to impress me or some other long-time-f1-fan with this (quite old info), he would be certanly told not to believe everything he reads about F1, 'coz "Alonso for sure never had anything to do with Arrows".... |
