19dodge should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
24 Hours of Zolder 2006

Something a bit different - and interesting!

This weekend is the 24 Hours of Zolder in Belgium. It's held as a round of the Belcar Championship. Two Corvette C5-R's are entered (GLPK and PSI), as well as a Marcos, Porsche Bi-Turbo's, BMW 120D, a gaggle of Porsche Cup cars, and even a screaming rotary Mazda RX-7!

The-Paddock.net will be having complete coverage of this race througout the weekend. We already have a race preview, spotter's guide and qualifying 1 report up. Here's a direct link to the event coverage page for the race:

http://www.the-paddock.net/component...,354/Itemid,1/

Corvette won last year, can they repeat it again?

He,
You make a small mistake. PSI won't drive there with their Corvette's. They drive there with a Porsche (#38). The C6 is at Donington Park for a LMES race...and the C5 don't drive this weekend.

Btw, the 2nd Corvette in the Belcar is for SRT (Selleslagh Racing Team)...and they got the pole!!!

I think the GLPK Vette will win it. It will be interesting to see how Cor Euser's Marcos does as well. I think there will be live feed again this year on the harmony channel: www.hibn.tv

It's not Euser's Marcos. The yellow/black LM600 is from Eurotech.

yes your right. I'm sorry. I was writing this quickly before i left this morning, and i have had PSI stuck in my head since last week when they were in the FIA GT race at Paul-Ricard.

It's GLPK's Corvette C5-R and SRT's Corvette C5-R that are at Zolder. PSI is at Donington with their C6.R.. -It's Amazing how theres three customer Corvette teams with two cars each in Europe and no privateer Corvette teams over in America..

Don't forget that on that side of the pond, there are more series in which the cars can choose to run.
There is only one show here now.

I inquired about buying a C5-R from Pacific Coast Motorsport, but they already sold them to a BelCar team. A guy in Guatemala wanted one for the GT series over there.

Guatemala? What sort of series do they have?

What sort of spec are the Porsche BiTurbos at Zolder? Are they close to a GT1 type specification, or are a lower level of development?

Erki has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Is it Francois Duval driving the #70 Porsche? And who's the Loix in #44?

25 minutes of safety car after a blown motor by Danny Steegmans' Porsche. The GLPK Vette already has a 2-lap lead!

What happened to the Maxime Soulet Vette? He is 2 laps down, but turning laps 5 seconds faster then everyone. Why did they lose 2-laps?

www.hibn.tv is so cool!

Maxime Soulet is a flipping stud! That kid is awesome, man. He got his Vette in the lead from third 2-laps down, right before the end of his stint. I remember him from F.BMW last year at Laguna Seca. The Porsches are having a lot of problems. #8 just dropped out with gearbox problems, and the Red Bull #38 spent an hour replacing their gearbox.

Update 15 Hours:
The GLPK Vette built up a lead of over 10 laps over the Hart-Duez-Soulet-Cloet Vette. But at 5:30 a.m the GLPK Vette of Longin-Kumpen-Hezemans-Mollekens came into the pits with gearbox problems. The team lost 30 laps to change the gearbox and are now lying third, 20 laps behind. The Goossens-van Dongen-Euser Mracos is in second place, 2-laps off the leaders. It just started to rain, so things will get interesting. BTW, the Bouvy-Menten-Belloc-Verbergt Porsche who earlier changed a gearbox is flying, and is now in 6th place, 35 laps off the lead. A pair of BMW's are in 4th & 5th.

they are GT1-level cars, but the Belcar-regulations allows them to have more power then in FIA-GT (something with the restrictors, bigger or smaller, I keep forgetting as I don't have a lot of technical knowledge )

unfortunately, to allow the PSI-BiTurbo's to "close the gap" to the vettes this year, they choose to allow even more power, instead of the larger rear wing the team had asked for. as a result, PSI now runs their RSR.

SRT won yesterday, apparently Kumpen was none to happy about the gearbox problems they encountered, he used some non-quotable terms on TV
