Although sometimes they behave as idiots to some extend I am fan.
I think if they were from redneck country they would be loved by many.

Some of the most talented guys ever in Nascar regardless. We know how good of a person Kyle is off the track, but Kurt is just a nasty person overall.

Kyle is a genuinely vicious, almost criminal type. He is very calculating. A real headcase. Kurt is more of a clown who tries to perfect a super hero swagger and is prone to flashes of anger. You can get a bit of unintentional comedy out of Kurt.
That said, they are the finest raw talents in NASCAR. Some of the moves both drivers can pull off have been breathtaking. In some ways it makes them even more frustrating.
Danica's principle accomplishment is that she is a marketing bikini on wheels. That maybe unfair but the showbiz masks anything she does on the track by a stretch.

Somehow Ms Patrick got into the AllStars event on a fan vote... so there is a large pocket of fans out there with internet access & telephones.
Doesnt seem to matter to them that the on-track performance isnt of a championship-winning standard at the moment....

They market Danica relentlessly, she's very visible so I'm not surprised she's a 'vote magnet'; other votes would be split over a couple of drivers.
With these voting competitions few people sit down to mull over their choice; they vote impulsively.

A Joke of a vote into a Joke of a race.
A month of hype, 5 hours of pre-race, 2 Million bucks and fireworks/lazers, 45 minute driver intros and format changes couldn't make the Sprint All-Star Hypefest watchable, which since 2007 has only produced 1 exciting race. Of course the Three Stooges up in the booth drank their Kool-Aid with wishful thinking of wreckers and checkers and instead got another festival of clean air on a 1.5 mile track.

Must say i have no interest in it as it aint a points race - bring on the 600 this weekend...
As for Danica getting the most votes from the fans - this happens each year in this event doesnt it? Good to see someone else get it over Dale Jnr!

Dale Jr hasn't needed the fan vote the last couple of years. Dale Jr hasn't come up against Danica in the vote. Bobby Labonte won it last year and this year he was elbowed out by Danica.
I'm not that hopeful for an exciting Coke 600 unfortunately. Hopefully I'll be proved wrong.

Could NASCAR Use Turbo V6s And Carbon Fiber Frames By 2017?
After the success of NASCAR's "Generation 6" program (which has accomplished it's main goal by creating more unique cars for each brand while also accomplishing the auxiliary goal of making passing easier on bigger, more aero dependent tracks), the stock car racing sanctioning body has already begun to look towards what to do for it's next generation of cars, expected to debut in 2017, and if a report from Stock Car Engineering is to be believed, things could get far more technical very quickly.
According to the report, planning for the new generation car has just recently begun, and everything's on the table right now, even the engine rules that have gone largely unchanged since the early 70s and the steel tube frames that have been used since the late 60s.
The most notable of the new engine options potentially on offer is that of the turbo V6, which would be popular with heavily invested manufacturers Ford and Toyota while also helping court new manufacturers (most notably Volkswagen, who's been considering joining the sport on-and-off for the past three years). If the decision is made to switch to turbo V6s, NASCAR would join IndyCar and F1 in going a V6-only route, though it'd be safe to assume that all three would keep different specific rules, and by extent safe to assume that we're not just four years from seeing an F1 engine in a stock car.
Also on the table is a switch from frames built out of steel tubes to a DTM style hybrid chassis, half carbon fiber tub and half steel tube frame. Considering NASCAR has already announced a plan to run a North American DTM series starting in 2015, the success of that series could very well dictate whether or not this idea comes to fruition.
It's early and at this point everything is just speculation, but both of these major changes could be likely as NASCAR continues to attempt to keep their current OEMs interested while also attracting new manufacturers. With Dodge leaving at the end of 2012 and Chevrolet having seriously considered leaving the sport as recently as last year, these measures have never been more important to the health of NASCAR.
