FIA GT Round 4 Hockenheim
I just got the provisional entry list for the upcomming FIA GT race and the Lister is back.... with Tom Coronel and Patrick Pearce.
I'm lost.... Also the International Court of Appeal will meet in Paris on Wednesday May 12th, 2004, to hear the Automobile Club d'Italia appeal on behalf of BMS Scuderia Italia, car nr 1 Bobbi/Gardel, against the decision made by the Stewards of the Meeting on May 2nd, concerning the incident during the event run at Magny-Cours (France) and counting towards the 2004 FIA GT Championship. The decision will be announced on Thursday, May 13th in the afternoon. |

Hmm, well so far it hasnt been very competitve. 1.8 seconds off of the outright pace so far, still perhaps they will make inroads into the Saleens times, or perhaps the Lister GT is at the end of its development.

and coronel was on a hot lap, set up to do a theoretical 1:37.1 (which would have put him faster than the saleens) but he hit traffic in the last sector and lost the time. also, with the lister's engine trouble, they have to swap out the engine and in doing so will start at the back of the grid

Did watch the 2nd practise from the Sachskurve....Works Lister looks pathetic ,and the trouble is not only engine related...
Konrad Saleens significantly better, especially the vitaphone car when the first driver was on board(Bartels?)the other driver was much more erratic but still fast...and they had the measure of the RML cars on setup,I bet these will just chew up their tyres, understeer in ,big wiggle oversteer out, complete with two black stripes on corner exit... hey and the russian boys from Freisinger seem to sample European gravel traps......after LeMans prequalifying fully buried in the Dunlop gravel now Hockenheim....not as impressive but the poor mechanics will surely kill anybody mentioning the word gravel..... |

How much quicker do you think the works Corvette would be, 2 seconds?
How much quicker the Maserati, 3 seconds (before any weight penalties etc.) The 550s seem to be hitting a bit of a wall development wise, or are Prodrive putting all there resources into the Aston Martin. The DTM pole was around 1.35. Just shows what a works backed team is capable of, with a theorectically slower car. ETCC pole is a 1.48, with the F1 pole a 1.14. When F1 is slowed in 2006 they will be within 10 seconds of the best LMP1 cars. Last edited by JAG; 15 May 2004 at 19:07. |

the BMS cars are hurting because they have 60KG and 100KG of ballast. However, the Vitaphone car is running with 40KG.

Are there any pictures of the new Lister? Or is the body not different from the 2003 model?

I haven't seen any FIRE.
I guess you noticed that Lister also changed the engine and will , just like BMS, start from the back of the grid. |

The telly coverage by Eurosport is dramaticaly hopeless this time : we won't have the GT race before 10h45pm !
Quite frustrating... |

What makes the difference (sorry, I'm not a DTM specialist at all) ? Weight ? Engine's power ? Balance of the car ? Except the fact that they are tune by the factory, I mean... I'd like to see a DTM race at LM too, and maybe a DTM exhibition, one day, on saturday before the June's race... |

Good job of the black 575 too ! And the Saleens... the four cars in the top 6 ! On last FIA-GT race, we could expect a great year now, if the pilots are consistent, and the car reliable. Le Mans will miss them ! |

It also helps that Hockenheim is a twisty, point and squirt circuit that does not suit the high powered GTS cars. Having said that, the works Corvettes are considerably quicker than any other GTS car and, IMO, would be 2 seconds or so quicker than the FIA GT pole. The new Maserati, IMO, will have huge potential, and be much quicker than any current GTS car. It will have all of the benefits of a DTM/prototype chassis, with the extra power. |
