UK Fuel Duty set to rise again April

I know this isn't specifically a marshalling issue but have just received notice from PetrolPrices.com about an impending fuel duty rise of 2p / litre either 1st April or 22nd April dependant upon whether it comes through before or after the budget.

There is a Blog at petrolprices.com with more information if you're interested.

So watch the prices near you.

Hang on, can I get this straight?

You mean a Labour government is increasing taxes?

I don't believe it. They would never do that. Surely.

May delay it to help the economy.

Or double it to pay for the banks 'we' now own...

Brilliant! Read this thread, and the first advert at the top of the page is for Red Diesel!!

Which is a point, being on a track/hill climb/sprint and therefore not on the highway/not taxed - what are the rules on red diesel for racing?

Surely they would be the same as any use of red diesel... legal as long as the race does not take place on a public highway. AFAIK there is no performance or other issues, its just diesel dyed red, so I cant see it falling foul of scrutineering.

Not much use for petrol-powered vehicles though

Is there a red petrol?

I keep looking at LPG powered cars on Ebay..... its looking more and more attractive, especially as I live so far west, each price hike reduces the possibilities of where I can volunteer

I have run LPG for several years and the price of that has sneaked up lately, I am now paying on average 50p a litre. As far as running red diesel in a racecar it would probably be classed as a pleasure boat now is and they have hyped the price of that right up even though they can use red also the MSA rules say road side pump fuel so that would rule out red.

I run a LPG van. Not good when an injector failed, but other than than it is great. Not filling up at the normal petrol stations is the key to cheap LPG!!!

Yeah I do know what you mean but don't really bother as I don't do massive milage. If you were not worried about getting your collar felt I see no reason why you couldnt run direct from a big calor gas container in the boot like a forklift truck but it would be a dead give away if you got pulled by customs.
