vauxypower should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2009 season cut down of competitors and what clubs

So onto to another season and yet we are leaving a great 2008 year.
But I cant help myself thinking that with the credit crunch on there will be a decrease in competitors next year. Im not just talking in the BHS but also in smaller clubs. I just wonder if there will be any competition lol. perhaps im over exaggerating it I hope I am. also what clubs are the hot ones atm Any comments anyone?.

I don't think there will be a massive decrease in the numbers of people actually with licences, they may choose to do fewer evnts or concentrate on those closer to home (mind you with fuel prices dropping that may not be the case!)

There WILL be competition.

As to your question "what clubs are the hot ones atm" I am not sure what you mean! Spearmint Rhino is pretty hot!

A lot depends on whereabouts in the country you are as to which are the better clubs to joinwith respect to Speed Events.

Richard, I would suggest joining BARC so that you could do the Gurston Down championship which should be relatively close to home.
Another venue to consider is Wiscombe (nr Honiton) which again should be an easy run to get to.

Enjoy!

I know that the Notts Sports Car Club had around a fifty percent boost to membership last year due to free entry to their championship and to join, 60th anniversary year you see, but I imagine a lot of them will rejoin next year so in these times of crunch, it may be fair to say the NSCC is a hot club with great venues etc for sprinting.
cheers Claypole

From what I am already hearing some clubs will be cuting back on the number of events they organise. This I understand is in an attempt to ensure full entry lists.

This may mean that certain championships are reduced - i.e. less total number of rounds. Hopefully we might also get away from the situation where there are several Speed Events in an area on the same week-end thus diluting the entry at them all!
