25 entries for this weekends race at Zolder including a Beachdean Aston, a Reiter supported Gallardo with Peter Kox and Nicky Catsburg and a Vita4one BMW Z4 with Yelmer Burmann and Michael Bartels. Great to see the black and green back on the grid.

Definitely, great to see Vita4One, and with a seriously strong pairing. Looking forward to this one, just a pity VDS went to Estoril instead!

Is this their first race of the season? Was afraid the team had disbanded.

I can't remember them racing in 2014 at all. They were last minute entries for the Bathurst 12hr but then as quickly as they entered they withdrew . Maybe the teams on hiatus for this year pending future plans? |

I think the Vita4One team pulled the plug during 2013 FIA GT Series season? They had to change the name from Vitaphone to Vita4one as they lost the title sponsor though.

Interesting that they mentioned on commentary that HTP are running water cooling on their brakes.

Well, the highlights weren't boring, but, jeez, that was a lot of contact, and slamming the curbs at the first chicane!
Hopefully nobody has too much damage, or potential, lurking suspension failure for the "Main Race". |

I missed the Qualifying race but saw on Sportscar 365 that in Parc Ferme someone from BMW team Brazil tried to grab Max Buhk by the throat. Was this captured on camera?

Mad accident for the Russian Mercedes, contact with Zanardi nearly sent the car flying over the barrier.

First race I've seen where the leader crossed exactly on time!

I was impressed they timed it right to wave the checkered flag. The announcers certainly thought another lap was coming.
It's kind of funny that after finishing dead last, the Pro-Am winner got to stand on the podium. |

Since we're shamelessly promoting our photographs, check out mine from yesterday: http://www.flickr.com/photos/miguelb...7648434279819/ and while I'm at it, let me also say that you can follow me also on the fecesbook at www.facebook.com/miguelboschphoto
So, now that we have that out of the way, I'll comment on the weekend. It was the first time for me that I've seen Alex Zanardi, and unlike most people, he isn't a hero to me because of his accident and comeback, but because if there's one person I could credit for getting me into motorsports, it's him. His 1998 IndyCar championship drive got me hooked onto racing and from there on out it all went downhill with my life (just kidding, it's been pretty good this year). So that was pretty awesome, and impressive to see what kind of following he is. I joked to my friends that he's the new Jesus, with the difference being that Zanardi isn't a fictional character. Great day yesterday, glad I forced myself to go by buying a ticket. Great racing as well. Peace out. |

Baku is going to be very interesting with an even bigger grid.

Baku is another Audi-Lamborghini kind of track, plus passing is nearly impossible, so the Maxis did very well to surprisingly add to their lead here. These end of season entries are high quality and can fill up the points-paying positions so it's not over yet.

But of course Buhk shouldn't have been starting up front after that last lap move in race one. He just came back from a ban... Not that he was the only one last weekend who drove like an idiot. I'm not even sure the race control room was occupied.

That ban had been a major screw up by the sporting authorities... got thrown out in court pretty quickly. Unfortunately, Buhk had been suspended until the court date, costing him a potential championship.
