The Pye Bridge Pie-Man

The PYE BRIDGE PIE-MAN
Saturday 12th December, 2009

GOING FOR A SPIN ON MAIN LINES, SECONDARY LINES AND BRANCHES - WITH A VARIETY OF LOCOMOTIVES!

Although the ubiquitous Class 66's (known as Sheds) are found the length and breadth of Britain, as well as in many parts of Europe, we are pleased to offer a tour that features four different types of locomotive, with, hopefully, not a Shed amongst them!
Mind you, it is with an American built locomotive that we set off from Westbury, a variation on the Class 59's that arrived here in 1986. This machine will take us to Birmingham and on via Nuneaton and the Wigston South Curve to Kettering, where it will be detached. In the Birmingham area, a Hanson Traction / Colas Rail Class 56 Grid will have been added to the rear of the train, ready to lead us via Corby to Melton Mowbray and on to the Toton area, where one of the remaining DBS Class 60's is then added to the rear of the train for a trip along the Toton TMD Loco Arrival Line. Another reversal sees the Grid in charge again, along the Erewash Valley to Pye Bridge and up the steep climb to Kirkby on the Robin Hood line.
At Shirebrook we turn east onto the former High Marnham freight branchline and traverse it as far as Tuxford, this section only recently revived for 'on-track plant' testing. After reversing we will return to Shirebrook, this time taking the east to north curve, then the south to west curve onto the Worksop to Sheffield line at Shireoaks. From Sheffield we head through Chesterfield and down the Erewash Valley to Trowell Junction, there taking the Nottingham line, the rarely used Lenton Curve being used to avoid the station. Use of the freight line access from Attenborough takes us back to Toton, where the Class 60 is detached and a Hanson Traction Class 47 is attached to the front of the Grid. This unusual pairing will lead the train via Sheet Stores and Stenson Junctions back through to Birmingham New Street, via Burton, Tamworth and Water Orton. The Class 59/2 will then reappear for the homeward run to Westbury, routed as per the outward journey.
Additionally, since there will be no real opportunity for an off-train break during the day, the GRICERS GRILL hot food menuwill feature on this excursion.

I think we should TRACK down the originator of this thread and then RAILROAD him good and proper, with a bit of luck he will get the POINT,and maybe his LINE manager will [COLOR="Red"] SIGNAL to him to stop typing such rubbish on here.

Due to major engineering improvement works, this thread will be replaced by a thread replacement bus service.

The fact that this thread has survived so long would signal that we are all starting to go off the rails with no marshalling to keep us on track!

Prehaps the fat controller* is out of the signal box at the moment?

I think that you should stop using this forum as a platform for your terrible sense of humour. It sends all the wrong signals to visitors
