As a CAMRA (campaign for real ale) I tend to go to old fashioned pubs and beer festivals so get used to beer at a certain temperature.

Agreed. This modern fashion for ice-cold beer which you can't taste is a mystery to me.....

Drinking and serving freezing cold beer is indeed a disgrace. But to drink Kronenbourg or 1664 at "campsite temperature" is the other side of wrong.

In TR as you will find several people have fridges so you can get a cold one if you get to know people, we used the old trick of utilising the washing up bowl, fill it with cold water from the shower block and put it in a nice shaddy spot then put bottles in it. However i do tend to drink a lot of red wine in the campsite as it does not need to be cold

As a Belgian Vince might appreciate the revelation I had at Le Mans in 2007, when allowing Orval, which I had previously had from the fridge, and regarded as a little disappointing, to warm up and drink by the Esses revealed it to be one of the finest beers I have ever encountered.

Icily cold is sometimes very much something to be avoided.

Orval and all other beers should indeed be drunk at a higher temperature than lager or pilsner style beers.

Drinking Orval at Le Mans?

In England I love bitter and always drink it in the pubs except for the hottest days and including my annual visit to the biggest beer festival in Olympia or Earls court ..... but when in Rome.... in the balmy weather of the Sarthe I love a cold beer and hence we take draught beer, flash cooler and 80 pint kegs to indulge in...... I just have to pict which brand to take this year tough job but someone has to do it.

Yes. Travis (me) and Marty will be there. I don't believe we'll be able to bring any fine American spirits with us on the plane, but will find something to contribute.

I'll be there and provided NON-alcoholic refreshments.

I'm coming all the way from Texas with my dad. No, we aren't rednecks, thank you, Mr. Hindhaugh!

It's my first time in Europe. I've been to Montreal, Canada once for the F1 race in '07, when I was a wee little tyke... that's just about all the French exposure I've ever got.

Calling a visit to Canada "French exposure" is like saying I've been to Texas, so I know England

I'm surprsied Pascal hasn't felt the need to reply in a similar vein!
