Porsche flat 6's at Le Mans

I attended my first Le Mans 24hr in 2010 and my first Le Mans Classic this year, and an unavoidable fact of both events was the presence of Porsches in general and Porsche flat 6's in particular. They are an integral part of the soundtrack of the race and have been for decades.

So I was wondering if any of you regulars know when the last time was that no Porsche 6's were entered in the event. Have they been there every year since the first time they turned up?

Yes, I can’t think of a year when there hasn't been a flat six at Le Mans since its inception.

The last time there were no 911s was 1992, but flat 6s have had a constant presence since their debut in 1965.

There were Turbo flat sixes in the Cougars and 962's at LeMans in 1992, but I assume since this is about the sound factor we are considering only atmo and not turbocharged.

Sorry, I misunderstood; I thought you meant the inception of Le Mans, rather than the Porsche flat six. I see now.
