New Gp2 Chassis Testing!

Sauber 11 started in the off season thread but I think this test deserves thread of its own.

Carry on!!

I'll be disappointed if DPR revert back to white from the colours they are running that the moment, which is what they have done from the pics. Maybe they just haven't put the finishing touches to it, like ART and FMS

Nunes was running with a yellow livery in the afternoon.

Anyway, I think the car is really sexy! I love the narrow, sculpted nose especially.

The Arden car could almost be a Red Bull F1 car, so much does it look like an F1 shape. Well done Dallara!

Have to say the new car does indeed look fab - I just hope it isn't too over-complicated so as to make this year more about reliability than speed. Seems to be going OK so far though.

Sev has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
How do these times compare to the old chassis? Does anyone know which track layout they were running?

I was looking at December's test times earlier and the time Hanley set is about 1 tenth slower than the last generation GP2 car. Not really suprising though when you consider that the teams havent run the cars before, I would expect times to be signifcantly faster tommorow.

The first time the cars have ever been tested and they're only 1/10th off the record Gp2 time - with a car that had 3 year' development.

Great stuff

I ain't gotRule Book, but have one off topic question to Jack or Bradrive or anyone of you guys/girls, do GP2 and FR3.5 one team entries liveries must be same for both cars? Are teams eligible to carry different liveries on both cars?

Looking at the time sheets, I just can't wait... who's gonna say now: Grosjean to conquer GP2? ;-)

Some carry different sponsors don't they? But it's probably like F1 where the liveries have to be the same I'd imagine

The basic liveries have to be the same, but sponsor decals can be different, and often are: look at iSport, for example.

Great performance by Maldonado, mostly considering he is not doing GP2 Asia and despite the irregular tech on the first day. It's clear that good ol' Giancarlo Minardi has trust on him since the Venezuelan's Italian FR2000 days.

On F3000 days they could race with different liveries AFAIK. That happened with Fernando Alonso and Fabrice Walfisch cars at Team Astromega (early 2000), and when Bas Leinders did a brief stint with the Bastos-sponsored car at team KTR (late rounds of 2001).

Giancarlo Minardi has nothing to do with Piquet Sports.

It's not F3000 anymore: the basic liveries are the same, and have been since GP2 started, including Speed/Artam.

But it wasn't that Piquet Sports, once Nelsinho jumped to F1, would sell his GP2 team to Minardi / GP Racing??? That's considering some Nelson Piquet Sr. comments to Brazilian media at the start of 2007.

According to the last photos from Paul Ricard test , at Minardi/Piquet Sports box there are a lot of Piquet Sports logos and no Minardi logos.

According to the GP2 Asia website the team is named Piquet Sports.
