Valker should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
ETCCup 2009

Apparently FIA ETC Cup will take place in Portugal in 2009. According to FIA 2009 International Sporting Calendar, the Cup is in Braga in 17.10.2009.

It doesn't seem very suitable for a large international race to me:

Doesn't look like the BTCC would want to go there ... if they want Portugal why not go to that new one at Portimao?

They've done Portugal before haven't they? A bit repetitive.

So far, the BTCC teams have never bothered to compete in the ETC Cup - I don't think any special effort's being made to cater for them especially since the Swedish somehow manage to make it.

They could always do something sensible like hold it at Silverstone, it will be colder than Portugal but it won't snow in October.

Plato was there the first year 2005 and the 2nd year it was won by British drivers Ryan Sharp & Emmet O'Brien (ok WTCC driver/team, but I guess British teams could at least claim that someone was there flying the British colours). But interest in 2007 & 8 seems to sadly been missing completely.

Yes, because placing it on an Island in a far off corner in Europe in a country that doesnt even recognize Schengen visas, is sensible. Or maybe not?

Sorry, was taken a bit literally there. Yes, SEAT UK took Plato out there but that was a long time ago.

Sharp & O'Brien as you point out were never BTCC drivers, and I was talking more of teams anyway.

That said, twice champions GR Asia are British, and are now only a BTCC team - but notice as soon as they only had the budget to do the BTCC, they didn't have the budget to do the ETC Cup either despite their good history.
