Yes, we need more racing. A proper support bill, job done.

I have an idea Adam!
How about some XJS racing. I'm sure you and I could show the crowd how to drive real Jaguars |

Yes, sounds like a plan to me. They'd be too much racing though!
Jaguar 'racing' would try and sack us. |

In Oz they have historic cars for the driver parade.A nice idea that's had several angles.Sometimes it's a mixed bunch of vintage, other times the local MGB club or sumsuch .Here they usually have two drivers sitting on the back seat of each car. That doesn't seem too many, they all seem to acnowledge the crowd and wave alot.
As for the support races...Yes they NEED them!In Oz there are probably too many support races but on the other hand you just can't have an empty track for hours!!!! As usual it's up to the local promoters to do all this because the fia/bernie don't give SH*T |

How about setting up a bicycle race on the basis of the qual procedure? I mean:
One lap to warm up, one raced lap and a final one to wave the crowd and to get back to the pits! |

Not that long ago the support for the British GP used to be amazing, but it is limited to just a historic event, although this is good (there are the standard Porsche and F3000 events too). |

In Australia the drivers seem to enjoy their parade lap in the back of the vintage cars they use so maybe it's the lorry that the drivers dislike, as for support races they're a must as in Australia we have four days of non stop action & the supports give real entertaining racing.

How about a 20 Road Sweeper Race - Each one sposored by a team & driven by the drivers......
You can see it now.... "Well, we were runnning a high brush pressure setup which proved to be non-optimal due to the abrasive machine/surface interface...." "We've had problems with the pit stop. The washer in the refill system was a bit dodgy and we all thought that Rons' missus had gotten a plumber in last week to fix it....Apparently not so it took us 12 instead of 10 minutes...." "Micky Schu gets away with dropping water, why should I be fines & excluded ....." |

Has anyone heard the story about when Jacques Villeneuve, Damon Hill and Mickey Schu (along with Ralf) were on one of those trailer thingies at the Nurburgring (in '97 I think?)? It involved Jacques asking Michael if he got erections over seeing all his German fans cheering for him. An hilarious tale if you know it!

The drivers say it's their only chance to chat amongst themselves and clear the air over past incidents.
So at the Hungaroring we'll see Ralf quietly get the stuffing knocked out of him somewhere round the outfield... Really though - for the fittest sportsmen in the world after professional endurance cyclists, is it really that hard to nip to the garage next door for a chinwag over some red bull and biscuits? |

So why can't they chat at the driver briefings? That's absolute rubbish for them to say it's the only chance they get to chat, it's a lame excuse for the poor way they treat their fan base.

Perhaps if the Concorde agreement was redrawn so that all teams profited from commercial intake at every grand prix they'd have an incentive to wave to their fan base.
I've been watching the ueber-mighty RTL coverage over here in Croatia which tends to wander round the paddock for an hour before the race - the drivers DO wave - but mainly to the people who are bankrolling them. |

I think they (The Drivers) should throw out goodie bags to the crowd and walk on stilts whilst juggling!
Ralf could uni-cycle round on the parade lap DC could walk a tight-rope for the rest of the season, perhaps with Justin Wilson! Michael would perform "Houdini" style tricks (Whatever happens, he will wriggle out of it)! Up front would be Bernard the Ringmaster - cracking his whip! |

With Syd following behind dispensing soothing balms to aid a speedy recovery to those muscles never before used when waving to the fans

I like the idea for support races with classic formula race cars.
In the past, formula 3 races supported formula 1. Modern formula 3 cars need almost as much pit space and garage usage as F1, how about classic formula 3, it would be great to see the 1 litre screamers going round Monaco before an F1 race. There is already a series for F3 cars built and raced from 1964 to 1970 run by the HSCC, lets get them in a support race for F1 in the British grand prix next year, or one of the European races. |

But what it is actually all about is drivers driving cars fast and in an exciting way. Give me Petter anyday.
