KayBee should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2 Questions about Brands Hatch proceedures

I have two questions regarding proceedures at Brands Hatch having be luccky enough to visit it over the weekend of 26/27 October.

What is the Incident Board used for? apart from giving Alien Marshal a good view point to watch the racing. Also the flags were in bundles of eight and it made me wonder 'howmany F1/GT races does the circuit hold in a year to necessitate having two yellow flags as a matter of course?

I also enjoyed a quick trip round the circuit (Indy) and the control tower especially looking at the televisions monitoring the various posts, however, the one I was one wasn't working.

Well, it's like this:-
If the "Incident Board" is the ! sign, it's an insurance thing to warn drivers that the thing that caused yellow flags to be displayed is still there, it's just taken that all drivers have seen it and the marshal waving said flag has got better things to do.
The reason why a set of flags has 2 yellow is because the yellow is seen to be so important That a second one is needed in case a marshal goes ballistic with the flag and forgets to hold on to it! It can happen, when a marshal gets on in years or flags in a force 9 gale. Antone at Donnington yesterday will agree!

I hope that clears up your queries. Now stop messing about and put some of this vast knowledge of motorsport into practise and get down to Brands next weekend. You will enjoy it. Trust me, I'm a marshal!

You'd think she'd know that......

Anyone at Brands yesterday will also agree; it was so windy the meeting had to be abandoned!

The Incident Board which I am used to is relatively small about two foot square and coloured white with a black-lined triangle, yellow inside the triangle and the black ! mark and is put onto a pole. The ones I am asking about look like big green noticeboards.

I know all about yesterday's wind chasing the flags around the post, at Brands, even after I had rolled them up and wedged them against the armco.

I'm afraid I can't take you up on your kind offer to return to Brands because it is the BMMC North Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday and I will be getting the opportunity to meet some of my BMMC North colleagues in civvies.

Feel free to go to Brands if you want - I'll happily go to the DD without you!

LOL

It's not only FIA classes that use double waved yellows though - the BTCC have a requirement for them as well, and they're not a FIA class are they?

KayBee, those big green boards are the only thing to protect us from the weather! Unless of course like me you are an Observer, then you can hibernate in the shed and get the rest of the buggers running around doing the donkey work for you tee hee *evil grin* Ask EP

It's a 2 day winter thing. Lots of sports cars and salloons and stuff. I'm only there on saturday as I'm off to re-live days of my youth with the London to Brighton run.
Speaking of Brighton, Any Seaweeds you know will be greatly enhanced by you reminding them of the score at Selhurst Park on Saturday. It was 5 - 0! And they were lucky to get 0!

Sorry to but in but, were all the marshalls up around druids on saturday from Sufolk, i only ask as all my family come from up there and it's been twenty years since i was last up that way, all my aunts and uncles live in or around Woodbridge,i would love to know if any marshalls are from there. My dad was born and grew up in Gt Glemham and my mum is from Saxmundam, where my grandad worked in the sale yard for years.
