GP2 Asia R2 - Indonesia

Tut, no thread yet!?

Well - driver changes in Round 2 already with Nunes to DPR in place of Soucek, and Hanley in at Campos...

As far as I can see, Eurosport have the feature race live tomorrow morning (8:30 GMT), but the Sprint is a tape delay.

Oh well - to the Romain Show!

DPR appeared to have found a bit of speed (and also, not quite such tough midfield competition in GP2 Asia) and they go and throw away their chance of impressing before the European season begins...very silly decision IMO.

8:30am...I'll be up for that then, can't see past Grosjean again though, must admit.

It's not really DPR's fault. Soucek was on a race-by-race basis because he didn't have the necessary funds and his deal with FMS meant he didn't need to impress anyone anymore. It meant he wouldn't spend so much money either when he didn't really need to.

I'd imagine Campos helped Nunes into DPR when Hanley became available too.

Filippi excluded for tyre infringement, Buemi takes win and Fauzy moves up to 8th (again!) for pole in the second race.

Gutted! I had Filippi as the winner on my predictions!

Ah, this I wasn't aware of.

Interesting race, not the greatest marshalling, and an exciting last last lap!

I can't believe they've taken Filippi's win away for something as ridiculous as the team putting Yoshimoto's tyres on instead his own: after the dreadful track management during the race this just makes everyone look ludicrous.

It's a fair cop I'm afraid...just an unfortunate mistake.

The track management being abominable still stands though.

So whose tyres did they put on Yoshimotos's car?

Personally I thought the drive through penalties for Bruno Senna and Yoshimoto were equally daft.

Very good performances from Senna and Ben Hanley.

In contrast, Grosjean was sort of average today, wasn't he he?

I very much like Gareth Rees's very candid comments...

Hanley did very well. Started 18th and finished 3rd is amazing! Although the weather did help him with most of the field retireing...

I don't think Yoshimoto ever had his pitstop. He only had the drive through.

Interesting???

What race were YOU watching?? Or, what did you take beforehand??

The last race lap was interesting, nay quite exciting (even though we never got to see Senna make up those 2 places to take 8th) but I thought that the rest was tedious / bordering on facre...

The Senna / Safety Car incident was always going to be a penalty, disappointingly...

Shame to see so many falling foul of the conditions - if it had rained, would anyone at all have finished, I wonder??

And, anyone find Grosjean yet?? I imagine he's tied up and gagged in a cupboard somewhere while his boyhood rival drove the car, never removing his helmet, so as not to be discovered!!

Maybe Grosjean was Soheil Ayari in disguise remembering good old times perhaps?

...or Goran Ivanisovic has taken up motorsport...

it may be that ART had gambled on the heavily-predicted rain (like several others, it seems) and his car was simply not driveable...

but then, I'm being kind!

Charlies should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
The last couple of laps were good, but twenty laps behind the safety car had sapped my interest by then, despite Martin and Gareth's best efforts. Unlucky for Filippi to be disqualified for a pitlane error; he drove well and pulled a good move into the first corner.

Good to see that Grosjean wasn't as dominant as in Dubai, and with the lap times Senna was setting, he should be favourite for tomorrow. I thought the penalty for passing the safety car was harsh; I'm sure that has gone unpunished in the past. Hanley's third was impressive.

Petrov threw away the win, but the biggest disappointment so far this season is Chandhok.

Yeh I thought Karun would be up there, given he was pretty much the only one with existing experience of Sentul, but then again he wasn't the only one to hit problems today.

Great to see Pavlovic take BCN to 6th and Fauzy in the points again - even if he was again a bit fortuitous! Assume Senna will be the one to beat in R2

Yeah always good value. Mind you he and Martin are good foils i reckon!

And Martin you are dead right, the race wasn't particularly interesting from a on track perspective, I was kinda referring to the overall event and the off track stuff. Your summaries of the marshalling was most amusing!

So everyone just to reconfirm it's Fauzy on pole for tomorrow from Senna, Pavlovic, Petrov, Grosjean, Hanley, Valles, Buemi is that right?
