But doesn't say how many races in A1GP you can compete in and still be a rookie... could be the ambiguous "no more than 6" from the last 2 seasons?

I think this is a good idea. I just assumed the 6 race thing stands.

italiaracing mentions that the problems A1 has with their new car have more to do with outstanding payments to their suppliers rather than the infamous Magny Cours crash. They also claim that teams have yet to receive their prize money.

No payments - no new parts delivered - delays in building the new cars - season start delayed/cancelled. Makes sense or not?

Oh er.. been checking italiaracing.net and er.. can't find anything that says that a1 is behind in payments.
And they thought the Indonesian round was going to be at Sentul. |

The quote in question is on their feature article about cash crisis. Currently the site is down, I will put a link whenever it comes up again

Site is up, here is the link

I don't read Italian but why would they call it A1 Grand Prix if they know what they are talking about, and why would they mention Magny-Cours, a circuit with no link to A1GP at all, in the same sentence?
If the teams are yet to receive prize money for last season why have they all signed up again? And would Ferrari put their brand on the line by being associated with something without thoroughly checking the series' financial backing? |

Translation of the Italiaracing "News"
"From the A1 GP the signals are worrysome. Some Suppliers have not yet received theirs payments and that would be the real reason of the delay of the season, and not the accident (even serious ) that happened to the test car at Magny-Cours. Either the prize money for the last championship have not been paid yet to the teams, so some teams could be in toubles to start this new season." Hope this translation helps |

When I first heard there were worrying money issues I dismissed it as jealous rumourmongering ...... but, today I heard the same from a very reliable source.
I met Pete da Silva for the first time the other day and he seems very passionate about the series. |

I do think it's worrysome that we are 4 days before a big test and we basically have no idea which countries will be participating and which drivers they will be sending.
Right now, only Korea, Monaco, Portugal and New Zealand have announced one or more drivers. Of all the other countries, we're not even sure if they will all stay, and if they do stay, which drivers they will be sending to the A1 test. Remember, it's 4 weeks before the start of the new season, and 2 weeks before the original scheduled start. I do hope A1 doesn't let us wait untill Friday, Oct 3rd to find out. ( I want to recognise the faces at the sponsor event on Thursday 2nd ). |

GBR have re-signed some sponsors for the upcoming season, and Turvey will continue as their rookie driver. Is the Donny test set for this week?

^ If you got the Turvey information from re-numbering the news item URLs on A1GP.com (eg. changing http://www.a1gp.com/News/NewsArticle.aspx?newsId=41976 to 41977 and so on), don't believe it - I have been told that A1GP are re-posting old news items to catch out people who try to find "secret" news by doing so.
Just a warning. |

The lead story on A1GP.com today seems to be Satrio Hermanto's eye surgery, which I read about ages ago. Someone in the A1GP PR department needs their head examined!

Since A1 won't publish news, I will: Jeroen Bleekemolen is confirmed to test for team Netherlands. It is not yet known if he will do a part season for the team, as that much is sure: Team Netherlands is going to share the drive between at least 2 drivers.
For some reason, team Netherlands will only do half the mileage I guess driving 4 km before coming to a halt at a demo counts for the other half ( insert sarcasm smiley here ). Last edited by RichardRenes; 6 Sep 2008 at 18:47. |

http://www.a1gp.com/News/NewsArticle.aspx?newsId=41979 Good news for some, bad for others - A1GP returns to Brands Hatch for the season 4 finale. Good for the people who enjoyed attending the races or watching them on TV the last few seasons, bad for those who found the races boring...
On a bad note, Mugello has been cancelled because they were unable to find a suitable date for it. And, finally, the series will test at Snetterton on the 23rd and 24th of September and the 1st of October, as well as the planned test at Donington tomorrow and Thursday. |

http://www.a1gp.com/News/NewsArticle.aspx?newsId=41980 Also, I know A1GP don't like us changing URLs to find hidden news but I don't care - this is a news item from Team Portugal of which an English version doesn't exist yet. I therefore translated it, and this is what I got:
Filipe Albuquerque is 100% locked in for the Portugal race drive, but the team will skip the Donington test because they didn't receive their chassis in time. Good news, however, is that Filipe will use the A1GP simulator at the Mugello circuit for 2 days, to get some idea what the car is like. On an interesting note, team boss Luis Vicente (translated) says that all teams have been guaranteed the same amount of pre-season running - so the 23rd and 24th of September at Snett will perhaps be only for the teams that didn't run at Donington? |

Portugal don't, as above...
Malaysia do, as they have been writing articles on their site about the build process. Australia do as well, as we have seen pictures of the car being built on A1GP.com... same with (I think) Indonesia. New Zealand must have one as Chris van der Drift has announced on his website that he will drive for them. Apart from that... I don't know any more. |
