It has been tested at Imola this week with Andrea Bertollini again at the wheel.

The car ran at imola and posted a best lap time of 1:34.397 which is about 10 seconds slower than 2006 F1 pole position.
It is still a big progress as current A1GP cars are about 20 seconds off F1 times, and this is not a definite time as the car is under developpement. Seems great then. |

I seem to recall a difference of about 7 seconds at Zandvoort between an F1 car and the A1 car

They almost never take the same configurations it is often shortened for A1GP, and when was last time an F1 car ran at Zandvoort?

They did run the same lap, and the car was a 2002 Ferrari if I am not mistaken

The lap reocrd is 1:19.880 by badoer, and the A1GP one is 1'27.349 but the race lenght on A1GP is incorrect, it states 4,6km while the track is 4,3...that would means A1GP car are as fast as F1 cars.
Also just like in lagun seca when champ car DP01 set a faster lap than zonta driven toyota the set up of the cars is difficult to know. In shanghai they run a 4,7km vs the full 5,5km for F1 cars are F1 cars run 1 second faster. In sepang they run the same layout, the A1GP record is 1'47.648s vs 1:32.582 for F1 (2005) So that's a bit hard to say, we would need to see more direct comparison. |

It depends on the track's characteristics - it's not a certain amount of seconds a lap slower (eg. 10) than the F1 car everywhere.

That is what I make of it aswell. The MM logo is more visible on that shot from upfront, while the Michelin logo is never truly clear, but it appears on several spots except it seems the rear tires.

Can anyone read what the small white name on the rear wing is?
From the pictures released today it looks more like a WSR car than an F1 car in my opinion, or at least it is bulked up. Clean at the front but a fair amount of aero bits when looking from the back. I really do hope close racing and overtaking won't be lost (I'm begining to feel doubtful). And refuelling nozzles! Didn't see that one coming... At least now we know what it will look like in Malaysia colours I wonder when another driver will get a turn. Perhaps Bertollini will say it's great but once it's too late to change anything they'll put someone else in who will say it's pants! |

I think it looks a lot like the SLF car... it's quite low and wide, with a similar nose.

To me I don't really care what it looks like just so long as the quality of the racing is maintained.
Looking at the aero on it I have a very bad feeling that IMO the racing will suffer significantly, oh well at least we had 3 years! |

The car hasn't even turned a wheel in race condition and here we are 'predicting' how it will be

Look passed the livery and it looks ok. I'm more curious to hear what it sounds like...
