pete60 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Romano Racing

Last Friday, I was travelling north along the Pacific Highway when I spied going south, around Taree, the Romano Racing transporter. I knew this because, despite not running a car for some years, the trailer had ROMANO RACING along the side in 5 ft letters.

Now I'm curious. Was the truck heading south carrying the Romano collection of used Holdens? Was it leased to another team and was en route to Bathurst? Have the covers been pulled off it because the team is about to re-emerge in some form?

Or had Bap sent it south, empty, to pick up the piles of cash from whomever has won the #24 franchise merrygoround game for 2006?

Anyone care to enlighten me?

Dee Why Beach, is that where or near where yacht races have been lately? That is what Bap is doing these days, nothing to do with cars.

Or maybe the transporter got sold to someone who could not be bothered to repaint it yet.

Pardon my geographical ignorance, but would that be far from PCR?

Has the franchise escaped the poor performance clause which might see it reclaimed by AVESCO in their aim to reduce to 32 cars?

It has Falcadore, but only because Mr Richards & Mr Dumbrell are running #24 at Sandown & Bathurst

I have seen the Romano Racing transporter around also, but figure it is carrying other things, perhaps even commercially, these days.

The truck must have been used by either Toll, Autobarn or Castrol Racing

No, Toll and Castrol have their own trucks. The delivery van theory seems to have most credence.....

The Mack In Tassie is the Old Castrol Perkins Racing ( and even had it on the door when it first arrived at Websters in Hobart) Mack apparently owned the truck and it was time for Larry to have a new one.
Got Sold to Worsley Transport and was driven Hbt to Lst by a Tassie HQ racer by the name of Kim Read.

Could the Ramano Pan be getting used by the Waldons still??

The Romano unit is a trailer isnt it? The Waldens used a Scania rigid truck.

I can recall Mr Romano's trailer at Eastern Creek not so long ago, if I remember rightly it had an HPDC car in it.... (there is a rule somewhere that a team with an L1 or L2 licence needs to own an accredited V8Supercar....)

Perhaps this is what the transporter was used for. I wouldnt be surprised to see it in the Bathurst paddock this weekend either...
