DNQ should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Which 4 Manufacturers Would You Like to See?

Which 4 Manufacturers would you realistically like to see in Champ Car racing? You can only choose four

I say:

Ford
Porsche
Audi
Chevrolet

Two from the US, and two from Europe

It depends whether we have turbos or naturally aspirated V-10s... If we have turbos:

Ford, Porsche, Saab, Nissan

Funny, I was thinking about this earlier today while at work. My list turns out to be identical to DNQ's.

...Although Nissan, Mercedes, and even Mitsubitsi would be cool. It's a tough question, isn't it?

Ford and Chevvy taking on Porsche and Audi would be fine by me, although Nissan would be cool as well. Mercedes would certainly be welcome back. I guess the basic answer is 'anyone but Toyota'

Why is this limited to 4?

Formula 1 has more than 4!
If they are going to have the same engine, then why can't there be more than 4?

Also whats wrong with Toyota?

Is Nissan boy going to say anyone but Nissan? Hell No!

I would like to see these manufacturers make TURBO ChampCar Engines:

Nissan
Ford
Chevy
Audi

I like the sound of evo's suggestion, Saab, they work alot with turbos, but they could just run with rebadged Chevys.

It wolud be important to me to get Ferrari range(and by consequence, italians interest) beyond the golden but narrow domain of F1

Honda would only come back if they got trashed by Toyota in IRl (which is how it looks like going), and that would be a publicity triumph for both Toyota and Tony George. Ferrari did once threaten to pull out of F1 and enter CART (they didn't like some rulebook aspect, but eventually got over it; not before building a prototype CART car), but I doubt they'd ever enter now, and if they did it would be to build the entire car, not only the engine. And it'd be a PLC decision for the sake of Ferrari's American sales (which have undoubtedly been damaged by the fiasco of the last USGP)

Ford, Porsche, Nissan and Alfa. It'd be nice to have Pontiac, though.

And so what?
Would it be so negative to have one more chassis manufacturer? I don't think so; on the contrary, it could drive an increase in quality and in general interest

Ford, Audi, Chrysler, Honda. I think Honda and Ford are already in for 2005. I feel CART needs a second US brand (Chrysler) which Mrcededs could support in Europe. Audi would be awesome. I love their cars. I would also love to see Team Joest compete in CWS.....they'd teach CART's best teams a thing or two.

Mazda

BMW

All have a history of motor racing, but more importantly, they've all proven they compete to win and embody the racing spirit. You could throw Ford in there, because they've stood by CART, but since they have their filthy clutches wrapped around Mazda I doubt they'd run the Ford brand too.

Thanks for your support, Dov. I'm getting none of that from the moderators of this forum.

We'll take any we can get!

I find it wierd that certain manufactures would be involved in Motorsports. Ford & Chevy being the obvious examples. The have made little attempt to produce interesting vehicles or for that matter decent cars. They've concentrated on SUVs because they pad the bottom line and they have less real competition. No one watches Nascar on sunday and runs out to buy a Taurus on monday. You'd have to be pretty dumb to have your impression of the Taurus improved by Ford's involvement. There is nothing exciting or interesting about the Taurus. It's an intellictual decision, not one of the heart. (although you'd have to be pretty dumb to buy one) Toyota atleast produces a quality vehicle, but not a particularly exciting one. Obviously all three companies disagree with me.

A manufacturer whos products embody the image they are trying to portray will get more from motorsports. Your impression of BMW as an engineering firm is improved by seeing how powerfull the F1 engine is and how well Williams performs. Brands for which it would make sense to be in CART: VW, Audi, Saab, Porsche, BWM, Mercedes, Jaguar, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Chrysler/Dodge (to some extent). All are aiming for performance/engineering recognition. CART would be better served by the later group because they will more likely produce a more competitive engine over the long hull. They are also more likely to stick around.

Snrub, I'm glad to see there is another fan of "The Ultimate Driving Machine".

I'd like:
BMW
Porsche
Ford
Toyota

I probably wouldn't have picked Ford two years ago but they have been steadfast in thier support of CART and so I have become a fan.
