Motorkhanas

So does anyone here take their road car to motorkhanas?

I would like as much information on them as possible. Especially about road cars that perform well etc.

vandas, it depends on the type of motorkhana that it is. If it is like the ones I used to compete in then any car can do well as it is more down to the driver. But some clubs take it a little more seriously and if it is an asphalt motorkhana then I would not recommend using a road car due to the damage it could cause, mainly to the paint work and transmission.

A motorkhana is basically a race against the clock around some flags. It can be on grass, dirt or asphalt. If on grass, it usually ends up as dirt by the end. You start in an area marked off by flags called a "garage". Then follow a pre-determined route around flags set out. Sometimes it does involve reversing, which is where transmissions can be damaged severely. You then drive back and stop within the garage, at which point the clock stops. Obviously there is a little more to it than that, but it covers essentially what happens. In the right club, it can be a lot of fun and a good place for young people to learn how to control a car away from the road and other cars. It is how I first learnt to drive

Well I was interested in doing some motorkhanas when I wasn't at a race track or testing. However I think I may spend my time off, doing more admin and paperwork. As well as catching up on my 50 million emails I have to write to people regarding different things.

Gee and they say motorsport is all fun and games.

The motorkhana's I've seen (called 'driving tests,' I think, in England) call for nimble cars and are more likely to classify cars according to their wheelbase than their engine size.

The best car for the job?
