Does anyone have pics or footage of the save of the season by the driver of the red RS500 in the ST race ? He booted it out of Woodcote & pulled out to pass one of the M3's, proceeded to get a real tank slapper on all along the old pitwall & managed to sort it all out ..... fantastic suff (from the outside !!).

The organisers suggest that the Group C races this year were the first time three Lancia LC2s have appeared on the same grid since Le Mans in 1983. Is that right? Didn't three of them take part in the support event for this year's Le Mans 24 Hours?

Edit: Ah, they weren't three MARTINI liveried Lancias at Le Mans this year...

Are you thinking of a complaint under Trade Descriptions Act?

IIRC the third Lancia at the Le Mans support race this year was Henrik Lindberg's car, which is plain red- I think it's the privateer car raced by Gianni Mussato in the late 80's, rather than a factory 'Martini' car.
Back in period, it was pretty rare for Lancia to field three Martini cars- Le Mans 83, and Brands 84 as mentioned by retrognome were about the only occasions that come to mind. More often than not, any third Lancia usually raced as a Jolly Club entry in a variety of liveries, particularly in 'Totip' colours: http://www.sportscar-racing.thesaxby...lanciasil2.jpg

It's great to see three- potentially 4 if the Lindberg car ever turns out at the same meeting as the Cleveley, Wills and Duncan McKay cars (as I recall, Henrik brought his 962 out at Silverstone instead?)- LC2s back on track- they really are wonderful beasts.....

True enough- I guess what brings a lot of us to historic racing, whether as competitors or spectators is the nostalgia factor, and for the younger generation of spectators, nostalgia probably revolves around the 80's or 90's cars. Personally, I love watching any kind of historic racing from Edwardians to Group C, but as much as I enjoy the older cars, I've only ever seen them raced as historics, I'm too young to have seen them 'in period'. The newer cars have a different appeal for me because Group C sportscars and Group A tourers were the cars I saw when I went to my first race meetings as a teenager around 1984/5...

As a friend said to me a while back 'You know you're middle-aged when you're watching historic racing and find yourself thinking 'I saw that car race when it was new...'

Some lovely cars in Woodcote Trophy. Did you get manage to get a shot of Malcolm Paul's Lotus X? Sadly a rear hub shaft failed so it lost drive and stopped on circuit. I gather the car has been fitted with shiny new ones for Goodwood!
