But that would be without any BoP applied

Since its just testing, you think 540ps 1250kg is not too bad of a starting point? I believe the track was a little less wet than the Super GT weekend. Plus that was a 'stopwatch' time. Hopefully its raced outside of Japan like the GTR.

Really wild rumor: Volkswagen Group, who already own Audi and most of Porsche, might also add the likes of Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, and Dodge/SRT to its portfolio of companies if this rumor is true that VAG wants to buy at least a stake in Fiat/Chrysler:

Talk about WiiiLd! I jus't can't see them happening unless their is some kind of hostile takeover. Porsche and Ferrari under the same roof? What are they going to share platforms too?

pederb has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!

Hope it will never happen, VAG will become way to powerful and could control the racing market totally, could threaten to pull all their brands from racing in a certain series, not a good scenario.

I hope it happens, actually. Would make it that much more likely a DTM/SuperGT series does happen in the US.

Dagys:

Further progress has been made in the finalization of the 2016 GTE regulations, following the latest round of manufacturer meetings in Paris last week. It’s understood the engine rules are now set, with a further meeting in September set to finalize the specifics on aerodynamics for the class.

Sounds like they agreed on sonic restrictors then.
How long are these 2016 GTE regulations set to run for?

a question: air restrictors and sonic restrictors is the same thing or there are differences between restrictors used by GTE and restrictors used by GT3?

Didn't we already have this discussion?

Anyway FIA (as in FIA) wanted torque sensor accelerator and GTE manufacturers specifically the old sonic ones

Don't lose hope. I think the idea is still for GTE and GT3 to share chassis. I think this is what the guys are working on behind closed doors. The GT3 or GT- would have less expensive modifications than the GTE or GTplus or whatever they will decide on.

It's still possible to improve on the current situation with the 2016 ruleset. Many of the current GT3 cars are due to be replaced in the near future so the timing may aid the desire for common ground between the classes. 2015 will conveniently be the Z4's last year in both GTE and GT3. The Z4 and the Mercedes are outgoing models.

But the thing is I don't want GTE & GT3 to continue as their own, nor do I want them to merge as common single platform as GT+/GT was planning to do, I want that (last line) executed properly.. And therefore, I'm dreaming

In order to get rid of BOP they have to let the manufacturers develop the race cars. But then this becomes prohibitive to privateer entries in terms of both cost and competitiveness.

I'm picking up the sarcasm with that one

But the ACO were fans of the sonic air restictor deal (sonic means that once air going though the restrictor goes over Mach 1--about 750mph +/- 10mph or so near sea level, and decreases with height--the engines won't make any more power), and using that as the main principal of their BOP system.

Ratel/SRO wanted what is now the GT3 BOP formula--rev limters, ballast, similar to how Grand Am did things until the IMSA merger.

What didn't impress the ACO is that it allowed teams to run cars without production engines in them (the BWM Z4 having a 4.4 V8 instead of the 2.0T4 or 3.0T6), and ignoring ACO limits on engine capacity (only the Viper got a waiver because of the road car engine being a huge V10).

That's why the GTE/GT3 formulas have been at odds, but with the FIA getting a piece of both the GTE and GT3 action--and the fact that Jean Todt isn't always keen to give a damn about the wishes of Bernie Eccostone and his associates, of which Ratel is one--a merger is coming, it's just a question of when, and how many compromises have to be made on both sides.

as far I know, revlimiters are not used in SRO GT3 cars championships, were used only in the early years, at example when debuted the R8 LMS in 2009 the engine could rev over 8000 or 8500 only in sixth gear.
Actually to the cars are given only weight ballast and air restrictors (that decreasing the amount of air in the engine, indirectly work as revlimiters)
