Unidentified shockers

Can anyone help identify these.
Alloy bodies, plastic screw shroud and 2 collet retainers on top. Lower section has a shrader valve.. I think they may be ally bodied Konis but nothing written on them anywhere?? Anyone know what they are and best place to get them re-built.

They look like Escort Gp4 units. Try GAZ.

The interesting bit is the Schrader valve. Not seen that on any GAZ, AVO or such like. Definitely something less common.......

Yes in the period of my ownership.

Gaz fabricated them especially for the car.

I stress that there are other shock absorber manufacturers and investments can go up or down.

That would explain why they don't look anything like the modern units in their catalogue!

Bit of a dimemma as to whether they are good enough quality to re-build…Whether anyone can re-build and then what to use if I go new option??

Yes, looked an old design, which is why I was surprised they could be Gaz. There are specialists that rebuild dampers, Delta uses one down his neck of the woods, but afraid don't know the name. May be worth a web search for 'race damper rebuild' or suchlike.....

Am sure most new damper manufacturers would build to your required length, stroke and mountings if not a stock item. As to who- You pays your money and takes your choice........
