Ditto, '83 here was my first trip on the Page & Moy special from Victoria!

This will be my 14th attendance, and 10th as a marshal. Still not aware of any other wheelchair based marshal there either!

Mine was car and camping too - I was in an Austin Healey Sprite and the clutch blew up as we drove into the Houx campsite (which was very rough back then) We managed to get someone else to bring a replacement, took the engine and gearbox out by hand after the race and fixed it.

Maybe our's could have been P&M actually for that first one ? I can remember that we wasn't prepared at all , it was an eye opener after previously only visiting Zolder for the GP . Gary Champion was our host on our next trip down, that was messy !
I'll look out for you Steve and give you a wave , what post will you be on ?

I've only coached it 3 times, first with Chequers in 92, then in 93 when they morphed into MRI and again with MRI in 98. That last year, our coach driver and the tour guide had never been to LM before and we got lost - finally arrived two hours late. An hour before the race start!

I marshal out at poste 106, after Arnage corner, so you won't be able to visit during the race. But if you see a marshal in a wheelchair in the paddock during the week, that'll be me as I'm the only one in my 10 years there to do so in a wheelchair!!!!

Why did you have to start using a wheelchair? You're like the Alex Zanardi of 10 Tenths...

Thanks Ayse.

My accident happened a year before Alex's, and I was sending messages over to him about the various stages he AND his wife would go through in the recovery.

We were able to meet up finally in 2004.

He's had all the coverage of being a successful Olympian, I've had to do my thing in the background by comparison.

Cheese

Have been following this forum for the last couple of years. Will be my fifth LM24 and to celebrate my first lustrum, I'm really gonna try and make it to the meeting this year.
Maybe add some "Grevenbroecker" to the cheeseplatter
