That is awesome looking. I really think that the ALMS needs a Mustang, and that Mustang would be the one it needs.

It is Scott Reed's, Tony Ave built Trans Am Mustang. Never raced in the US TA series, but built for a customer here. Downoz your first image did not come out.

but it is a sport sedan just the same, Cochrane would have you believe it is the COTF V8 Supercar, but it is a sports sedan

Not even a sports sedan would be so poorly executed from a clean sheet of paper.

Sorry Trev, I spend very little time on V8 Supercars so you are going to have to spell this one out for me!

Backagain has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
It is a true sports SEDAN based on a 4 door sedan, not a coupe or a sports car.

it was my sarcastic slice at V8Supercars administration for moving the category even further away from the road going variants - sorry for the confusion.

Thanks Trev, I agree with you, they are insipid sports sedans, and not at all production based. They are just plain way too expensive!

Yet the majority that speak up, most support it being closer to production. (i can't say what the silent majority think). I hoped they'd at least get rid of the 'half-door' thing they are doing now.

Well, they would have you believe that its a touring car category, so make them actual touring cars. If they want to have sports sedans, then there is a category for them running alongside the Hossacks, Riciardellos et al.

Looking at the Phillip Island Lap Records

http://www.phillipislandcircuit.com....sApril2012.pdf

Still about 3 secs off the pace and the lap record for the category was set some time ago.*Closer than I thought though. Guess making them faster makes them more spectacular and possibly cheaper?!

Still can't believe they are 7 secs off the F3 time though! Maybe they should reduce the weight limits.

Interesting that the production superbike lap record is more than a second faster than the V8 Supercars!
