TC's plans for the future...

TC wants to eventually run 10 meetings in Australia and 3 meetings overseas.

2 in QLD - 2 in NSW - 2 in VIC and one each in Tas,WA,SA and the NT.

The 3 overseas are NZ,China - and another he is working on.

The street race in Auckland is not looking good at this stage so after next years Puk race maybe another curcuit can step up to the plate.

Retro: I would say that 14 meetings is more likely. When you look at the Series Championship, it doesn't really have a lot of races when you consider the testing limitations.

My own thoughts are similar to what you list as rounds in Oz, but with 3 in NSW - Oran Park, Eastern Creek, and Bathurst. That's where the 14 round concept comes from.
There has also never been a complete NO to Phillip Island, if the necessary modifications are made.

What is interesting is what happens if the Auckland Street Race doesn't happen - it actually looks far more likely than not according to insiders.

So my predictions would be 11 Australian races - the way I see it, given the exposure opportunities giving up being a support class at the Grand Prix would create some major sponsor complaints.

That would leave one NZ round, one China round - possibly expandable to a second round on back-to-back weekends, with Bahrain as the 3rd international round.
None of this means that Malaysia, South Africa, or any other number of countries are out of the picture as such.

Tony Cochrane wouldn't want things to grow too fast and resultingly we are seeing a strategic approach to series expansion for both the Supercar Series and the Konica Minolta Series.

What remains to be seen is how many other countries would be interested in hosting a Supercar round?

From TC - he is not confident about the street race in Auckland as to many greenys and tree huggers involved.

He was interviewed last night on Bigpond.
He was in Sydney last night talking to a new potential sponsor and also talking about a new race for 06 (I think)
He is VERY unhappy about the street race problems in Auckland.
He is sticking with this 10+3 formula by the sound of it.

The Auckland situation is an interesting one, but it looks to be in favour.

TC spat the dummy about Auckland - and he didn't sound confident about it.

Now all you Kiwis. TC is a nice bloke. I heard you say it when he announced the Auckland race.

Is it true that one of the problems is the street race course cuts the city in half, hence the mail can't get through?

I read that in one of Peter McKay's columns. He's the master of back-handed or qualified compliments where AVESCO and Cochrane are concerned.

I think he still has hopes of a 2-litre revival.

TC's main problem is he believes that whatever TC wants, TC should get. Even more of a problem i guess is the fact that he has convinced influential people that that is what should happen. Note QLD government; TC must be getting his jollies there somewhere.

I beg to differ on that as you mean rounds not races , I have it on very good authority that the AGP may be removed to make way for the first round of the championship which could commence in the mid to late part of February and this could happen as early as 2006, also Bathurst may become the grand finale for the V8 Supercars.

I cannot remember if TC said anything about the GP races - that part was speculation on my part. He did say that he was very happy with the Tassie effort and the SC's will stay there forever as far as he is concerned.
