Why does Hindy keep calling Rainey Curve 'Shwanz' corner?

Anyone else notice the lack of on board cameras? Maybe ALMS didn't want to pay for them?

Dyson just can't catch a break, long pit stop and then it quits on the track

Oh well... they had a great run going. Guy Smith put in a stellar performance and it really proved that Dunlop knows how to make a great tire.

Hats off to the Dyson team for sure. I haven't heard what the problem is yet, but hope it wasn't engine probs for the Mazda.

edit: burned up oil filter for 16

on another note, Drayson has had gearbox problems all weekend, too bad they didn't get that sorted before it broke.

That was by far the best produced ALMS race I've ever watched. It was like Radio Le Mans with pictures. Just fantastic!

That was the best race i have ever seen, and for once it wasnt just the GT2 class, all the classes were super close today, bloody amazing.

Real shame for Dyson at the end there gutted for Smithy.

Can't agree more with that statement. Radio LeMans is endurance racing to me, and syncing that with the pictures is just spectacular! Hindy is great, and add Jeremy and Jamie and that was a truly professional race call.

Great camera shots (aside from the lack of on-boards which someone pointed out) ... good synergy between the commentating and the camera work ... Jeremy Shaw and Hindy in the booth together (Jeremy keeps him honest!) ... NO COMMERCIALS or adverts ... all around just a great show.

Oh, and great racing action to along with it!

Agreed, hope this is a sign for more to come. The production was great with the TV guys often anticipating ahead of Hindy what was happening. Great stuff, we are often quick to kick the ALMS in the guts, but the whole thing was brilliant.

Risi were shocking today, what were Melo and Bruni thinking hitting people up the rear so much, in the end they broke there own car and ruined there own race.

I'm aware of the finish, what I meant was the top 3 started right in a row and while the Porsche got a great start, the vette was right behind the BMW putting on pressure. Eventually the BMW crept away and caught the Porsche leaving the vette a distant 3rd. It would have been nice for the vette to be right there on the last lap mixing it up with the other two!

In general, looking at the brief snipet that Speed posted on their site about the race, the race was good, but the LMP cars need more reliability. if Audi or Peugeot decided to enter Laguna Seca, they would've walked away with it by being as fast or faster, than their competition while being more reliable. And knowing the Pug's reliablity problems even in 1000km/6 hours races in the past, a '07 spec 908 probably could've won today.

I also agree with the piece also from Speed about opening up the LMPC cars' air restrictors and maybe taking some air restrictor away from the GTC cars. Problem is that IMSA's waiting until at least after Le Mans(where like in the LMS the LMPC cars run as an LMP2 sub-class) to make any moves. However, Le Mans/LMS doesn't have a GT3/GTC class, but they have a FIA GT1 class, and those cars due to Ratel's rules are only as fast as GT2 cars now.

Either way, if Audi or Peugeot, or even AMR entered at least one car, they'd have walked away with a relativly easy win, but from what I've seen, the LMP1 cars in the LMS have the same problems with reliablity-if the diesels didn't run Spa, and LMP2 car would've won.

What's up with the LMP1's lack of reliability in the ALMS/LMS?

560 hp 1200kg cars? 2010 GT1's are as fast as the 2009 spec ACO GT1s (2 seconds slower than FIA GT1s) they're by no means as slow as a GT2.

They were 4 seconds faster than GT3 cars in the last Silverstone race, and as we know, GT3 cars are equally fast as the FIA GT2 and about one second slower than the ACO GT2.

At Spa, the FIA GT1s could barely keep out of the way of the GT2s. These are supposed to be the same spec as the FIA's GT1s, as implied in the first sentence. Patrick Long was in the Spa LMS race, and he said that the GT1s were only at best marginally faster than the GT2s, and caused a similar situlation to what the LMPC and GTC cars cause in the ALMS.

No FLMs/LMPCs run at Le Mans, they aren't eligible.
