That Cosworth motor is quite obviously not too shamby. I think that was the key to Roseberg making up as many places as he did, but his racecraft is quite acomplished too.

I would argue that the fact that at this stage of the season Williams and Cosworth appear to be on top of things, combined with the problems for Fisichella, Barrichello and Massa would have played a great part in Nico Rosberg's performance, even though it was highly impressive.

He gave the best first drive I can remember in F1. Shame about the first lap incident involving Heidfeld.

I thought he drove very well. He made an early mistake but kept his cool and then set blistering laps just before pitting for fuel. A fantastic drive.

Best F1 since Villeneuve in 1996.
From memory, i think Australia 1996 was the last time a driver on debut set the fastest lap as well. |

I believe the Williams' pace is a lot better than what it may seem. Bring on Malaysia!
You know I didn't think about the Massa, Barrichello, Fischella problems, still it was quite a drive. |

Sam Michael believes running so long in the first sting compromised their strategy. Im expecting them to be able to get a podium at Sepang, be it with Mark or Nico.
Nico before Bahrain seemed to be talking up his changes and using his experience with the circuit as a major reason. Anyone think that largely contributed to such a successful debut? |

Nico's drive was one of the best debuts in recent years. His racecraft was truely awesome and if Bahrain wasn't a one off... Keke's son is undoubtedly a future champion.

The fact he scored a fastest lap on his debut in F1 is interesting enough, but he actually took a record away from Alonso as being the youngest ever driver to have a fastest lap in a GP. (And by over a year younger).
I think Nino Farina Masahiro Hasemi Jacques Villeneuve Nico Rosberg Are the only drivers to have the fastest lap on the GP debut. |

The kid had a great race, I truly cannot wait to see what he does the rest of the season!
Glad to see the car is not that bad! |

Farina's first F1 race was THE first world championship race, so his achievement doesn't really count, and Hasemi's is regarded by many as a statistical error, so Nico's effort seems even better. From what we've seen so far the Williams may be the best outside the Big Four, and Nico has the pace of Webber, even if he made a couple of rookie errors.

People keep on comparing him to Jacques Villeneuve, why? Jacques was thrusted into a top-flight race seat! He won his championship because he had the best car and team around him!
To me, Nico had a far harder route to a williams seat then Jacques ever had! Nico was fantastic! Showings of a future champion! Far greater than Kimi or Fernando were when they had ok cars! I hope to seen Nico on the top step of the podium before the end of the season! Never say never! Look at Panis winning in Monaco! |

Nico is much younger, much more a novice and the Williams is no way a match for the Honda, Renault, McLaren or Ferrari. A better comparison for Nico would be Schumacher's debut in the Jordan. Nico delivered an impression on a similar level... and if he can keep it up... could be another Schumacher. Truely awesome. |

I thought that was a stunning performance from Nico. What a signing for williams. Other teams will be kicking themselves for not getting his name onto a contract.

Great drive. Too bad for the error at the start. I guess it's a steep learning curve.

So how many people think he will finish the year in a Williams, or will be racing for them next year? He is definately a top driver if his first race is to judge. Great drive.
